Monrovia Closes In; Routs Temple City

(Temple City) – Gabe Arellano and Steven Bermudez combined for seven hits and seven runs batted in to lead Monrovia to a 13-4 rout of Temple City Tuesday.

Bermudez clouted a home run and had 4 RBI while Arellano had four hits and three ribbies to spark a 19 hit attack. The Wildcats put an end to it early scoring six runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth to take an insurmountable 13-2 lead.

Julian Gomeztrejo worked four innings to pick up the victory. Justin Bowman had two hits and scored twice for Temple City.

With the victory Monrovia remained unbeaten in the Rio Hondo at 8-0-1. They can clinch the league title with another victory and a San Marino loss. The Cats are 16-3-1 overall. The Rams fell to 10-8-1 and 3-3-1 in league.

    TC is a young team but that’s just an old fashioned take em out to the woodshed and show em what’s what kind of whupping. Hope the Rams come back next game and put up a little more resistance. Congratulations Cats, I believe League is yours.

    Monrovia is getting back to the baseball of old. Hopefully they will continue to give The SGV the recognition it’s been lacking.
