Moors Remain Perfect

(Alhambra) – Noah Rodriguez completed 10 of 22 for 165 yards and a touchdown to lead Alhambra to a 21-20 win over LA Wilson Friday night at Moor Field.

Vito Russell had four receptions for 75 yards including a 24-yard TD grab. The Moors scored all of their points in the second quarter on Russell’s touchdown catch, Raul Cortez’s 84-yard kickoff return and an 85-yard interception return by Sebastian Velasco.

Wilson’s Daniel Arreola scored his second touchdown of the game on a five-yard run with 6:48 left in the third quarter to cut the Alhambra lead to 21-20. Scott Clark blocked Anahi Garcia’s extra point attempt to keep the lead at one.

Raul Cortez intercepted a last ditch Wilson pass at the one-yard line with five seconds left for the Moors to preserve the victory.

Alhambra  improved to 4-0 with the victory while Wilson lost its first to drop to 3-1.
