(Arcadia) – Pasadena raced out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back in an 88-40 rout of Arcadia Friday night in Pacific League action.
The Bulldogs led 26-9 at the end of one and extended it to 53-21 at halftime. A few minutes into the third quarter the lead was 40 and Pasadena Coach Tony Brooks was starting to empty his bench.
Pasadena was up 81-32 after three quarters before Brooks called off the dogs in the fourth.
Darius Mason-Robertson, Danny Pina, and Roman Solomon all scored 17 points for the Dogs. Pina knocked down three three pointers while Solomon buried two from beyond the arc. Speaking of burying, Mason-Robertson buried a jam that posterized an Arcadia defender and nearly brought down the rim in the second quarter.
Pasadena had five players in double figures overall. Davian Brown, who has taken the reins at point guard from his brother Darius who now plays at Cal State Northridge, scored 11 and Javon Jones had 12.
Arcadia was overmatched from the opening tap and was never able to get untracked. Caswell Reed led the team with 13 points including three shots from downtown and Sean Liu added 12.
Pasadena improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the Pacific while Arcadia dropped to 7-4 and 1-3 in league.
Pasadena will play in the Tarkanian tourney in Vegas next week. Will be a good experience to shape up their players.
