In 2017, the state of California removed the statute of limitation on AGRRAVATED rape, that is a rape which involves a weapon, more than one person, or serious bodily injury. For non-aggravated sexual assault, the statute of limitation remains 6 years. This means that the Luke Walton incident, which was alleged to have taken place in 2014, is within months of being non-claimable.
From what I can gather, the young woman’s complaint is that Walton pinned her down on a hotel room bed, and laughed at her when she demanded to be released. In other words, the reason Luke’s reputation and pocketbook is being dented is that the woman THOUGHT she might be raped. This raises many questions about where the line should be drawn in these type of situations. I’d also like to know if Walton’s new contract with the Kings is big enough to have precipitated a cash grab.
