Lions Pound Eagles

By MVS Staff

[Norwalk] – Davon Booth and Abel Cueva both found the endzone five times leading El Monte to a 78-36 victory over Glenn at the new John Glenn Stadium.

Lions scored early and often, Booth had TD runs of 28, 63, 46 and a reception for 57-yards from Joseph Herrera as time expired in the first half making it 54-6 at the half. Booth added a 51-yard run in the second half after El Monte recovered a onside kick.

Cueva had runs of 41, 63, and an interception return to paydirt from 50-yards out in the first half and added runs of 45 and 18 in the second half.

Glenn scored on their first drive making it 8-6 after a failed two-point conversion but that was the closest they would get.

The Eagles’ Coates Robert returned the second half kickoff 90-yards making it 54-14 and quarterback Matthew Huxtable had scores in the second half and running back Edwin Udengwu got in on the fun but it wasn’t enough.

El Monte converted 9 of their 10 two-point conversions Booth (6), JJ Reyes (2) and Cueva (1).

Lions (2-0) travels to San Marino next week, while Glenn (1-1) stays home and plays Cabrillo.

You guys need to know that Glenn was offered to run the clock in the second half, but refused. That is when EM decide to score more points so Glenn’s coach would change his mind and run the clock. Third-quarter, Glenn did making a little come back and score 14 un answer points. They think they still can come back. Since this is high school football, a team can score points in a quarter. So, coach C did not step on the break. He still has his staters in till the late of the third when the score is 70-20. Glenn did decide to run the clock after that. That is when EM play all their back up. BTW, EM does not have a real threat at a kicker position, so only option was 2-point conversion.

Lmfao!!! Did I just read while up 52-14 the lions started the second half with an onside kick? Hah I’m sure the coaches handshake went over well. Who does that? Booth scores in the fourth quarter of a game in which his team is up by 40!!!! And still going for two every time!!! Laughable. Well that puts to rest the motivation of this coaching staff. Stats over everything! Even the gentleman’s agreement when games get out of hand. Good job Coach C, every other coach in the area will take note. What goes around comes around. Lmfao onside kick up 40 points SMH. One for the ages. I got a question is this the ego of the HC or his players? Either way shameful.
