(Pasadena) The Pasadena Bulldogs proved that ‘every dog does have it’s day’, as they were able to outscore the host Maranatha Minutemen, 41-7, Friday evening at
Maranatha High School.

Pasadena (2-0) had little problem in the scoring department. Dante Coronel threw five touchdown passes, connecting with five different receivers. Coronel completed 11 of 21 passes, for 207 yards, which included a 10 -yard scoring completion to Xavier Harris, a 20-yard strike to Troy Lisath, a 56-yard scoring bomb to Mekhi Fox, and a 7-yard toss to Akil Andrews. Coronel completed his aerial display with a 5-yard pop to Jahrique Lowe.

Also contributing to the Pasadena scoring display was Ahmad Jolley who found the end zone on a one-yard TD blast. The balance of the Pasadena scoring was provided by Fernando Simental, who converted three PAT attempts, and by Harris, who successfully converted a 2-point PAT run.

Maranatha, who saw their record evened at 1-1, finally got on the scoreboard with 3:41 remaining in the contest, as quarterback Kevin Serrato connected with wide receiver Isaac Fields for a ten-yard touchdown.

Although they won the game, Pasadena did not play a perfect game. The Bulldogs were penalized 11 times for 115 yards. This included 5 unsportsmanlike conduct calls.

Next week, Maranatha will host the Verbum Dei Eagles, while Pasadena will host the Pioneer Titans. Kickoff for both contests is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
