Undefeated Alhambra Beats L.A. Wilson, 35-6

(Los Angeles) – The Alhambra Moors lifted their season record to 4-0 with a 35-6 nonleague victory at L.A. Wilson High on Friday night.

Sophomore quarterback Noah Rodriguez completed 18 of 27 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns, and outside linebacker Damien Rosa scored on two interception returns to lead Alhambra.

Slot receiver Kody Chuang caught eight passes from Rodriguez for 114 yards and one touchdown, while wide receiver Vito Russell made five catches for 89 yards and a TD. Russell also returned three punts for a total of 70 yards.

The Moors gained 101 yards on the ground as they piled up 348 yards in total offense.

Wilson quarterback Julian Hernandez connected on just 14 of 39 passes for 156 yards and was intercepted three times.

The Mules’ lone touchdown came on a 27-yard pass from Hernandez to wide receiver Jacob Holguin early in the second quarter. The Moors held the Mules to only 39 yards rushing.

Yellow flags were a prominent feature of Friday night’s game. Alhambra was penalized 14 times for a total of 132 yards, while Wilson ended up with 12 penalties for 71 yards.
The Moors had two touchdowns called back because of penalties, and the Mules (0-4) had one score nullified.

Alhambra will finish its nonleague schedule at home against unbeaten South Pasadena this Friday (Sept. 20) at 7 p.m.
