Been told Zamora has already made changes to his offensive and defensive staff, not public yet but if true Cal just got a lot better quickly!

Oh people will care a month or two from now. That is when the hot stove league gets rolling. The Head Coach merry-go-round. You get more posts during that season than the playoffs. After round one the comments drop rapidly. Losing teams fans retreat to their basements waiting for the gossip to start about head coaches that are being shown the door. It’s the best.

At this point in Cal’s football history, the team needs some good news. I suggest that new head man Zamora design a generic varsity jacket decal saying ‘Playoffs 2019.’ This way, the players can bask in the glory of those who interpret the words to mean their season ended with a postseason run, while not claiming the deed outright. It’s perfect, because a month from now, nobody will care one way or the other anyway.

Whittier High has some slappy coaches that’s why they don’t win. Dude ain’t his papa, the last name don’t win games for you bud. They think by beating teams in their preseason they have done something. They are just a little better than pioneers staff who isn’t even in the league. They should make their way to the 605 league hahahahah

Did you see what La Serna did to them a couple of weeks ago ?
Yeah it was ugly. Warren is worried not La Serna

Cal should have gotten a playoff berth in D11, on paper 6-4 with a 2-2 league record and 3rd place. Instead Laguna Hills gets in with a 5-5 record.

Somebody in CIF does not like La Serna. A top seed and they have to play Warren again? The old adage of “It’s hard to beat the same team twice” seems to fit here. Even though La Serna clobbered them the first time, all that is now is fuel to fire up Warren, a very capable team. Is D9 that weak that Santa Fe gets an entry? Probably saved Pierson’s job for another year. ER gets 6-4 Compton. A team that butts heads with LB Poly and the tough Moore League teams every week. Amat earns a D1 spot just to be fodder for pro team Mater Dei. That’s a joke. Alhambra and El Monte should cruise into the championship games next month and SV also.

The Santa Fe Chiefs, proud bearers of a 3-7 record, are in the playoffs as a division 9 at-large. Yes, this is the same team that just lost to division 11 El Rancho, and whose only league win was a 2-0 struggle against a depleted Whittier group. How money-hungry is CIF these days, and how far are they willing to go in watering-down their product?

28-21 victory was a good victory but from what I heard besides one drive and two big runs Poly shut down a lot of the run game. Teams like Adelanto, Orange Vista, El Monte and Moreno Valley with size and speed will be a big problem for them. But those RHP are tough and tell coached so I wouldn’t be surprised if they do make a long run in the playoffs.

With the regular season over a few thoughts. The 42-6 loss to La Serna was no shock. However Whittier’s pratfall was. They were preseason favorites to challenge La Serna and cruise into 2nd place. A cupboard full of returners with the hottest runner around. Their collapse combined with the forfeits has left me scratching my head. The lack of any reporting about how this happened and who is at fault is frustrating and bad for high school football. You get a little here and a little there but never the whole story and its effects on the team. Kudos for the Cardinal team for suiting up against the monster La Serna has become. Narbonne on the other hand just quit and has ended their season with players going back home to various parts of California. Santa Fe came out fired up with a playoff entry on the line. taking a 7-3 lead and keeping the Dons offense on their heels I felt an upset coming. However with a big El Rancho crowd behind them The Ranch did what they have done all year. A great second half team. A few tweeks and ER cruised to the win. I have heard rumblings there are more investigations coming before playoff teams are announced but for the players sake I hope not. C’mon schools, clean up your acts. Winning at this level is not worth it.

Rio Hondo Prep looking like the favorite in D12. Wow they looked great last night vs Pas Poly. I don’t see anyone beating them. They play great on both sides of the ball. Good fundamental football.

Bishop Amat’s reward for looking good this season will probably be a first-round shoving into the meat grinder that is Mater Dei. Nothing to learn there except that Rollinson’s program recruits on a whole different level.
