7. The NCAA granted a waiver to transfer Johnny Juzang making him eligible to play at UCLA for the 2020-’21 season.
8. On this day in 1980 Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics is named Rookie of the Year, beating out the Lakers’ Magic Johnson.
9. Also on this day in 1989 Philadelphia Phillies 12-time All-Star third baseman Mike Schmidt announced his retirement.
10. “Who’s playing for 2nd?” – Larry Bird to the rest of the participants at the NBA three-point shooting contest in 1988. Bird then won the contest.
