South Pasadena Spoils Ostry’s Debut, 36-30

By Rich Whittington

(La Canada) – Ivan Ostry’s La Canada debut fell slightly short Friday evening, as the visiting South Pasadena Tigers edged the Spartans, 36-30, in front of a Covid-19 permitted crowd at Spartan Stadium.

Ostry picked-up where he left during his 2019 campaign, completing seven passes for 92 yards, including a 22-yard TD strike to WR Dezin Delgatty. Ivan also accounted for 216 rushing yards, which included TD runs of 1, 5, and 21 yards. Ostry also converted 2 2-Point Pat attempts…running for one, and connecting with WR Cole Stratton for the second.

La Canada was also very tough, defensively. In addition to numerous tackles and stops being logged by Ostry and Delgatty, the Spartans logged 50-yard interception return by LB Abraham JHee, who returned the ball to the Tiger 5 yard line, setting up a Spartan score.

South Pasadena had the answer to the Spartan attack, and that answer was QB Noah Aragon. Aragon completed 17 of 31 passes for 287 yards, including an 83 yard completion to WR Richard Conti. Noah also scored three rushing TD’s, running for scores of 1, 2, and 4 yards. Aragon also connected with FB Cole Sterling for a successful 2-Point PAT attempt.

Defensively, South Pasadena pressured the La Canada offense all evening long, causing enough of a disruption to force three interceptions, one of which was returned for a 16 yard TD at the hands of the aforementioned Richard Conti, who found the end zone for a second time from his DB position.

Next week, La Canada travels to Santa Monica High School, for a meeting with the Vikings. Kickoff for this contest is scheduled for 7:00 PM. South Pasadena’s next outing is stated for 4/2/21, when the Tigers will travel to San Marino to take on the Titans. Game time is also scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Sorry but Ostry made an excellent debut, how can you expect to put the game on a player that’s was taken out just after the 3rd, wonder if So.Pas coaches were chewing out the players on the bus back, they almost got beat by a few players, 10 player to 1 ratio.jmo…jus say!
