(Downey) – Warren down by two touchdowns late in the second quarter, went on a 34-0 run the rest of the way to upend Mayfair 40-20 Friday night at Justice Stadium.

Most of the damage was done by sophomore quarterback Nico Iamaleava who threw for 358 yards and six touchdowns.

Mayfair took an early 10-0 lead on a 32-yard field goal by Ryder Padilla and a 44-yard touchdown pass from Evan Tomich to Eugene Neal.

Kyle Miller hauled in a 10-yard touchdown strike from Iamaleava to get Warren on the board but the Monsoons immediately answered when Nick Adimora returned the kick off 85 yards for a touchdown.

In an odd sequence Miller subsequently retuned the Mayfair kick off 100 yards for an apparent touchdown but it was was called back and ruled a touchback because Miller initially fumbled in the end zone.

Padilla hit another field goal from 36 yards out to extend Mayfair’s lead. Iamaleava hit Josh Johnson with a four-yard bullet to make it 20-14 with 6:02 left in the half.

It looked like Warren was going to get even just before halftime but the Bears were stopped on the Mayfair 8 yard line with under a minute left. The Monsoons took the six point advantage into the break.

Warren then came out with its hair on fire in the third quarter. Right out of the gate Iamaleava hit Miller on the run for a 59-yard score and one-point lead. Less than three minutes later the 6’6″ quarterback struck again with a 23-yard laser to Juan Wilson.

With 3:15 left in the third Wilson hauled in another six points as he was on the receiving end of a three-yard  Iamaleava toss. Just like that as the third quarter came to a close it was 33-20 Warren.

The Bears added a little gravy in the fourth quarter as Miller racked up his third touchdown of the night with a 19-yard TD catch from Iamaleava. A once 14 point Monsoon advantage had turned into a Bears rout.

Iamaleava and a host of receivers all had huge nights. Miller, Wilson and Johnson all had a field day in the Mayfair secondary. Asontt Williams also had 3 catches for 57 yards.

Warren improved to 2-0 with the victory while Mayfair fell to 1-2.
