  1. Former NFL cornerback Phillip Adams shot and killed five people and later killed himself Wednesday in South Carolina. 
  2. Muir, who had it’s game with Burbank this week canceled due a positive COVID-19 test with Burbank, will now play Inglewood Friday night at the Rose Bowl. 
  3. UCLA signed head coach Mick Cronin to a two-year contract extension through the 2026-’27 season. 
  4. The MLB All-Star game, which was pulled out of Atlanta, Georgia, due to the state’s voter registration laws, has been moved to Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. 
  5. Arizona fired head coach Sean Miller after 12 seasons. 
  6. UCLA forward Jalen Hill announced his retirement from basketball saying he “just had to distance himself.” 
  7. Justin Rose leads the Masters by four strokes after the first round. 
  8. On this day in 1981 Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela made his first start and beat the Houston Astros 2-0. 
  9. Arcadia beat Charter Oak 11-5 Wednesday and is 5-2 overall this year. 
  10. The Dodgers home opener is Friday at 1:10 p.m. against the Washington Nationals.
