Braves Win Mt. Baldy

(Hacienda Heights) – Drew Knight threw for 272-yards and a touchdown to lead Baldwin Park to a 31-13 victory over Wilson Thursday night at Wilson high school.

Knight took the Braves down the field on the opening drive and capped it off with a one-yard touchdown dive by Benny Ramos.

On Baldwin Park’s second drive of the game Knight hit Ramos on a short four-yard pass making it 14-0.

Wilson’s Isiah Espinoza took the kickoff off 95-yards for a touchdown and a missed extra point made it 14-6.

The Wildcats got stuck on the one-yard line as time expired in the first half keeping the score 14-6.

The Braves’ Josh Arevalo picked off an Espinoza pass on the opening drive of the second half and they capitalized with a with a seven-yard touchdown run by Ramos.

Espinoza got back to work on a drive down field and hit Robert Vega for a 20-yard pass to paydirt making it 21-13.

Baldwin Park kicker Javier Torres hit a 25-yard field goal midway through the third and lineman turned running back Daniel De La Torre pounded in a nine-yard touchdown run in the fourth making it 31-13.

Knight finished 15 of 22 for 273 yards and a touchdown with an interception. Sophomore Tec Nunez was his favorite target hauling in three catches for 80-yards. Isiah Ariza played some tough defense for the Braves at safety. 

Wilson’s senior quarterback Espinoza went 14 for 23 for 158 yards and touchdown an also threw an interception. He also rushed for 75 yards to go along with his kick return for a score.   

Wildcat Nathan Ravard had an interception in the end zone. 

The Braves finish off the COVID season 4-0 while the Wildcats endedat 2-2.
