[Rosemead] – South El Monte’s Kaelyn Rodriguez gave up two hits and struck out nine in a complete game 6-0 shutout of Rosemead at Rosemead High School Friday.
South started off quick scoring two runs in the first inning when sophomore Aaliyah Cordova hit a hard double in the gap.
The Panthers couldn’t get anything going offensively only getting singles from Jaymee Lefort and Samantha Apodaca.
Rachel Leon hit a homerun for the Eagles and Yazmin Gonzalez got on base three times and drove in a run. Emiliana “Milly” Morales came in and hit a opposite field single and drove in Gonzalez.
Alicia Ochoa pitched a solid game for Rosemead only giving up three earn runs, but errors cost the Panthers.
South (5-0) will go home next and host Arroyo for the top spot in the MVL while Rosemead (2-3) will stay home and host Gabrielino.
