  1. Former Rams running back Jim Bertelsen passed away at the age of 71. 
  2. Charter Oak receiver Sam Mason received his latest D1 offer from San Diego State. 
  3. The Angels beat the Dodgers 2-1 Sunday to win the three game series and improve to 15-18 on the season. The Dodgers lost 8 of 10 games on their road trip and fell to 18-17 overall.
  4. Running back Kerryon Johnson, who was released by the Detroit Lions last week, was claimed on waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles. 
  5. The LA Galaxy beat LAFC 2-1 Saturday night to improve to 3-0-1 on the year. 
  6. Actress Tawny Kitaen, who was once married to former Angels pitcher Chuck Finley, passed away Friday at the age of 59.

  8. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf ran a 10.37 in the 100 meters Sunday which was 15th out of 17 sprinters at the USA Track and Field Golden Games. 
  9.  On this date in 1973 the New York Knicks beat the Lakers 102-93 at the Forum in Inglewood to win the NBA Championship in five games. Knicks center Willis Reed was named MVP. 
  10. The Lakers are 37-30, seventh place in the Western Conference, heading into Sunday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

    Just a thought on Tawny and Chuck. One night of booze or drugs can cause you to be stained for life. For Tawny it means she was defined as a mean dope head sex kitten for Chuck, he’s the guy the got beat up by a girl and had asked for help. Try to avoid those bad nights young athletes. There are no winners in these scenarios.

    RIP Jim Bertelsen.
    I remember him at University of Texas in their wishbone offense, and then with the Rams at their resurgence in the mid 70s. He was in my wheelhouse of when I first starte following sports, him being 10 years older than me.
