Brandon Cox is now at Pasadena

T-Minus-78 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Good Morning!

What is a better Friday night choice? The future or the past? The Bonita Passing tourney or the Hall of Fame game at Baldwin Park High School.

I prefer both…so I think I am going to do both…somehow.

Good for Jeff Worthy… Although I need to ask him if his verbal commitment to Boise State has slowed the recruiters down.

Magic Johnson is the greatest Laker of all time… In terms of basketball playing ability Kobe couldn’t carry Magic’s jock. Nope.

It’s redundant to say that Desmond Reed is the best football player in Temple City history. He is…the sky is blue…taxes are too high…I get that…but I got a brief word from the guy former TC HC Anthony White said had the skills to be as good as Reed; Brandon Cox.

Cox is now playing quarterback at Pasadena and excited about the coming season.

“We are looking really good actually. We will be a young team this year, but all of us are looking forward to the challenge. I’m super excited for this season. We have about nine passing league games that I know of right now. Maybe even more.”

Cox is only a sophomore

His Arroyo Baldness went on the record about what Arroyo has coming back in the trenches in 2010:

“We went from three all league linemen in 2008 to seven in 2009.  Same kids, new coaches. In my opinion we have the best OL/DL coaches we have had in my 17 years at Arroyo.  Randy Twist, Kenny Andrew, Rosie Penaloza & David Pasos know we’re potent in the skill positions for 2010. It’s their job to make sure we have the linemen to match.  We have the athleticisim, the numbers and the size already in house. I’m confident these coaches will get these guys ready to play over the next two months.”

Getting ready for the NFL season, and the NBA Draft (thank you FIFA), so summer is in full swing. I need another starter in the rotation for the Dodgers to make my joy complete however. Wondering if Doyle Alexander is available.

I don’t know the NBA anymore, I know this, but the World Cup has thrown me back into it. So I’m gonna say this, and its not necessarily a reach because guys become busts all the time in the NBA (didn’t Kareem Rush get drafted in the first round?)…Butler’s Gordon Hayward is going to be a bust in the NBA. Which makes him a perfect fit for the Clippers.

Looking at the Raiders, I see an improved team… any time you can unload a slug like JaMarcus Russell you’re going to be better. The problem for the Silver and Black continues to be Al Davis.

…and I still can’t pronounce cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha name even though I can spell it real good. Maybe I’ll just call him Chuck.

…But I will still call South Pasadena quarterback Conor…as in Conor Bednarski. The Tigers quarterback talked about heading into a season with an upgraded schedule.

“Coming into this season I am very excited about my team. We have a lot of seniors with experience coming back and there is a new energy about the practices. Guys are coming out with high hopes and bringing a high level of intensity everyday to practice so with that combination I can’t help but like our chances in the Rio Hondo League. As for quarterbacking success I owe all the credit to my O-Line. Kevin Figueroa (Guard) and Michael Lind (Center) are both coming back a third year on varsity. Lind especially is an anchor on the line. As for games we are looking forward to?  Cathedral is a new addition to our schedule so they guys are excited about the competition that will bring. But I wouldn’t say any one game is on the bulletin board. We are just working hard in general right.”

Stay thirsty my friends…
