@ron didn’t Alhambra just get a new principal?
Peko left after Gil’s last season which included a lot of talent leaving that year through graduation or moving on with lou Torres being elevated to head coach which people didn’t agree with. Ever since Gil left Alhambra hasn’t had that type of talent like peko, Zion Babb, Mitchell crockom, Anthony brown and Darrian Cazarin
Mater Dei is so good they can’t find teams to play them. They go to Texas and Nevada and still have only a 8 game schedule. Every senior starter has a Folder full of D1 offers and I bet so do all the underclassmen starters. And don’t bet they are going to pull punches on La Mirada. The stands will be loaded with scouts and these MD boys want to show off what they got. They just may take somebody’s head off. I read what one mom said about her son a captain on MD. “He’s been trained to hit since he was 6”. Yikes! Too bad football doesn’t have weight classes like boxing and wrestling. The only thing that makes sense is that somebody is getting a good payday for this from somewhere. I hope it’s worth it.
@moor alumni: Peko left Alhambra to play at La Habra in high school. He coached at La Habra and now is at Colony. Sounds like he doesn’t want to be at Alhambra.
@ Moor alumni: You mean Vai Peko? He had some moments during two seasons on the varsity, but he transferred to La Habra before his senior year in 2010. Instead of finishing his career at AHS, Vai decided to join a Highlanders team which ended up winning a CIF title.
Is he actually interested in helping the AHS football program now? That sounds nice, but I’m not in charge of hiring, so you’re asking the wrong person.
Well one thing is challenging yourself, another thing is to line your kids up to get their butts whooped all night with 0 chance to compete, pretty demoralizing if you ask me.
Del Rio League went 4-1
LS is still the top until someone beats them … idk why all the “hate “ on EL RANCHO bc we are doing good lol…
But , if you haven’t noticed we want all DRL teams to go undefeated until league begins … it only helps all of us
So even if we want to beat each other , I’m cheering for all DRL teams in pre-season … but come league … we gonna be at each others throats 😂
Best believe 🤣
@ron how can’t we find a spot for val peko a former star player and alumni at Alhambra to be on staff.
@ron as a coach in high school u have to adapt the scheme to your players unless your one of the big time high school programs. The Alhambra coaching staff doesn’t seem to be doing this.
Man you DRL “fans” are brutal.
The league belongs to LS until someone beats them.
Cal and ER seem to be the only ones who can compete for the top 2 spots/challenge LS. Cal has scheduled the tougher opponents of the two but ER has been beating people the way they should be.
SF and Whittier are dark horses who can beat anyone in the DRL if their opponents overlook them.
@ Anonymous: Yes, I’ve known those coaches for years, and I have a lot of respect for them. It’s funny how, the way some people look at it, the same guys who ran a defense which allowed fewer than 15 points a game in 2019 suddenly don’t know how to coach.
Who you have out there on the field matters a great deal. So far this year, I generally haven’t seen our defenders flying to the ball and playing with almost reckless abandon like they did back then. It also hasn’t helped that one of our starting linebackers, Luis Sanchez, has been out with an injury since the second game of the season.
Why is La Mirada allowed to schedule Mater Dei? HC Moschetti scheduling this game must be a pure vanity exercise. I mean LM’s Cal Preps rating is that of El Rancho. Can you Imagine El Rancho’s Medrano scheduling St. Johns Bosco for next year? I mean the school is just down the street from ER. I mean LM, they just got running clocked by Foothill. Someone should make Moschetti put on pads and play special teams and run back punts and kickoffs. Hey coach you know the movie”Rocky” is fiction right? MD”s kids are as big, fast and strong as Alabama 1st year players. This is dangerous. Hopefully MD will play freshmen all of the game or if LM is smart cancel the game and claim temporary insanity.
Guess who’s back?! FridayKnights aka Get Back Coach aka Chain Gang aka Assistant to the Assistant! If Glendale is so crappy then why is almighty Arroyo playing them? Get a clue.
@ron have u seen the guys who coach defense for Alhambra. It ain’t going to get better without a shake up on staff
If you know anything about High school football matching previous games scores to judge your opponents does nothing for your preparation. It’s believing in fairytale. Why is there so much hate for this El Rancho team?
Considering the LB coach at Alhambra is from keppel, the DL coach is a baseball coach, how can we expect to play good defense.
I mean if you would ant to call us equals I guess you can, maybe it doesn’t matter that ER had freshmen playing in the 3rd quarter that night, but ok den.
We can call them marshmallows all night, we cannot control what these programs have become. No one knew Gano was leaving Don Lugo or that the Villasenors were going to leave Sierra Vista or that Montebello and BG were going to be so down. We wanted to see where we were at by playing Santa Ana, we knew we needed a good test, unfortunately Covid ruined that, we took on a supposedly hot Covina program who was coming off a big win over Northview, we won easily and left points on the board.
We now face a 4-1 Norwalk team, we will do the same thing we do for every team, we’re going to prepare a great game plan, we’re going to practice hard and we’re going to come out and play as hard as we can.
No DRL team is being disrespected, we know every team is playing to win, when the time comes we will figure things out on the field. For now ER has simply taken care of business and is not going to overlook anyone.
Santa Fe walloped Montebello by the same score El Rancho beat them by. Whittier got edged by an unbeaten Arroyo team by a field goal. Whittier and Santa Fe have played much tougher schedules than El Rancho. Both are showing signs of life.. As the saying goes that iron sharpens iron both teams due to their schedules are getting sharper. Conversely it is tough to sharpen iron with marshmellows. Cal and El Rancho should not think they can beat these two teams by just showing up. The Chiefs and the Cardinals are not just going to show up but they want to win a playoff spot. That makes the league opener of El Rancho vs California huge as to any playoff hopes.
The players, coaches and program is well respected in the Del Rio league. It’s their low life trashy fans that create the hate. Why don’t you learn from the program. Stop being classless
Always gotta respect LS, they are still the team to beat. Happy for ER, we know we gotta keep working because league is going to be difficult.
@HS football Fan
What did you want them to cover a 0-5 SH team that everyone knew was going to get dog walked. Come on.
@football insider
Shhh. Don’t talk about the HC because his mother in law is going to get mad.
Goldy
Same four plays is frustrating?get used to it because That has been theyre DNA for years now. But it’s not that embarrassing after losing to a winless Glendale team that lost to Gabrielino week 1 mind you, what’s more embarrassing is the kids being able to quit and return as they wish. I’ll bet the morale in that locker room is just copasetic. Lmfao. Friday we play the Nitros we will bring back the MVL respect for those Eagles mishaps.
Did CO VS SH play this week? Local schools no coverage hmm?
Good job!
From T. Peterson: Not sure if they played football or it was a blood letting. We knew it was going to be 40-0…oh my bad it was 36-0. No way we were going to waste a writer at that game. C’mon man!
Aw. The only love La Serna gets is from LS’s mommy posting on here. Well mom go buy Cody a big MVP trophy then give him a big wet one.
@Ls parent, “kicking crap out of powerhouse Tesoro”. The only two teams
La Serna have played that have a winning record have both beat you, and beat you bad! Or did you forget about the REAL getting crap kicked out of you by Warren?
We will find out about San Gabriel soon enough. Hard to take them seriously with that schedule they’ve played so far. Pretty much everyone in the area would be 4-0 with that schedule and now they end with Temple City to get ready for league?? Good luck to SG this week, hope they can be ready for league opener next week after this grueling showdown this week
Gabrielino 56, Mark Keppel 0
Keppel’s win streak ends at two games.
La Serna beat Tesoro 24-13, hardly what I would call “kicking the crap” out of somebody. Speaking of this, your Lancers have a Calpreps power rating of 18, while that South OC “powerhouse” has a rating of 16.4. This tells us that your team SHOULD have won, and they did, by a margin appropriate to the numbers. Since we’re focused on crap here, let’s cut it quickly and honestly admit that La Serna is down this year, and that we hope they can rebound next season.
@ Anonymous: Once a Moor, always a Moor, as far as I’m concerned. I’ll be with Alhambra until the very end.
This is the most schizophrenic team I’ve seen in my 18 years of doing stats for AHS. We’re good on offense, but so far our defense has been able to stop only one opponent—a young and rebuilding Temple City squad which is still winless.
The coaching staff (including the offensive coordinator), the quarterback, and the offense in general are really not the problems. We’re averaging close to 32 points a game, which normally would be enough to win. Michael Gonzalez threw for 271 yards and three TD’s last night, and Erick Baray rushed for 125 yards against South Pasadena.
Our defense has to step up and play with far greater intensity than it has shown up to now. A team that allows an opponent 541 yards in total offense—like we did last night—isn’t going to win many games.
After kicking the crap out of powerhouse Tesoro every team needs a game like this. We just wanted to know what El Rancho and Cal feels like in all there games this year. Playing teams far below their ability. Even Robledo is getting fooled. Always remember the slow down game against LS last year??? I do we all were very embarrassed for you.
Alhambra needs to bring a Matty v in or the Pasadena oc to bring that program to life
Once Rosemead is iff to a very bad start but this time it seems bad play calling.
@LS Parent: Yes, it was La Serna 49, Valley View 6. Valley View (of Moreno Valley) has a Calpreps power rating of -20.8, and is winless. You should be thankful this result was not mentioned.
I think Alhambra Moors needs a new coaching staff they are not getting the job done it so sad. The offensive coordinator is trash. The way things are looking Alhambra Moors will end the season with 2 maybe 3 wins. Alhambra needs to bring back Head Coach Gil Ruedaflores so they can get back to the wining side. The real blue and gold with the gold helmets. Also @Ron stat man hang in there it’s tough being a moor right now.
@Ls Parent: Tim said if you get on your knees and beg he will think about it.
Question answered!
Hey Tim….You know La Serna played tonight too right? No Love ???
Took in the South El Monte Versus Glendale game tonight. I figured this would an easy win for the Eagles but the Nitros had other plans. No disrespect intended towards Glendale they earned this win but SEM played terribly! The same four plays over and over again was absolutely frustrating to watch. Also the previously mentioned RB Ryan Gordiano who was not with the team the past two weeks was back tonight. Bottom line is the Eagles played flat and soft tonight. Next week Baldwin Park comes to the swamp in a must win for the Eagles to salvage their season. A win, and this game is forgotten but a loss going into league would not be good for the Eagles confidence. Glendale 32-20 over the Eagles.
Same old Alhambra in there lose defense couldn’t stop south Pasadena, offense did it’s thing. But for coach Eric being a former college coach you would think he would adjust things on defense because whatever there doing on that side of the ball isn’t working
After watching all teams in the Miramontes, it’s definitely gonna be Ganesha’s league to lose. No doubt. Deeper roster. Best qb in that league.
The coach at San Gabriel has done a good job of building up the lower levels over the last couple of years now there moving up to varsity and having success.
As I said quite a while ago, don’t sleep on San Gabriel. The Matadors should have everyone’s attention by now.
La salle. Wow
The Almont has one eye on SG now that they are 4-0.
whats going on at La Salle ??????????? ANYONE?
– are they missing kids??? is Arcadia that good?
Happy to see Cal get the W! Helps Del Rio League look stronger
*note- they beat NV with out Vance Johnson 2-LB 1-CB! thats 4 starters missing! wow.
Del Rio League is going to be exciting!
SG – SM…. wow …. Someone has to pay attention to SAN GABRIEL … good job!
TONIGHT!!
EL RANCHO VS. COVINA
about to get alot of questions answered
Too much hype over Northview. Good job CAl you pulled it out.
First time I can remember Bassett beating Azusa in quite some time. Not a good look.
A Wednesday night game, like the old MAC. That’s great that CIF in this flexible now a days. Looks like the ol ball coach is putting his stamp on things at Bassett. It might be more than a one team race in that league. I know Ganesha is the big favorite and they should be after beating Pomona but I would not look pass Garey or Bassett.
CalHi vs Northview tonight !
Let’s go CAL! Get that W
