All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:

Friday November 11

DIV 5

Villa Park (6-5) at St. Francis (8-3)

Villa Park finished second in the Crestview League behind undefeated Yorba Linda. Last week the Spartans beat Murrieta Mesa 42-7. St. Francis is coming off a 28-point win over Silverado. The Golden Knights lost a couple of games early but have since won 6 of their last 7 as they got hot at the right time. Momentum and the home field advantage carries St. Francis to the victory.

DIV 9

Tahquitz (8-3) at San Dimas (7-4)

Tahquitz beat Burroughs last week in a shootout while San Dimas was shutting out West Covina. Expect the Saints to pound it again on Tahquitz. If the San Dimas defense can hold up like they did last week the Saints should be fine. Tahquitz can score as it showed last week. It’s important that the Saints can grab an early lead and control the clock. San Dimas advances.

San Dimas 24 Tahquitz 21

Hillcrest (7-4) at Diamond Bar (10-1)

Diamond Bar has dropped only one game all year. The Brahmans have bounced back from that loss to win five straight. Hillcrest has also won five straight after a 55-54 win over Norte Vista last week. This seems like the Brahmas year. They aren’t ready to see it end now. Diamond Bar gets the W.

DIV 10

Muir (5-6) at Norwalk ( 10-1)

Nice local matchup. It was a struggle early for Muir but the Mustangs have rebounded to advance to the second of the CIF playoffs. Norwalk has been cruising. The Lancers lost just once all year – to Gahr three weeks ago. Muir will make some big plays with their athleticism and speed but Norwalk will eventually wear them down. Norwalk grinds out the win.

Norwalk 26 Muir 21

Baldwin Park (9-2) at Covina (7-4) (Covina District Field)

Maybe the best local matchup of the second round. Drew Knight leads an explosive Baldwin Park offense that can score with anybody. Covina has been up and down all year but the Colts have won their last four games. The question is can the Colts make enough stops? They will make some but not enough to outscore Baldwin Park. The Braves offense is too much.

Baldwin Park 35 Covina 24

DIV 12

Lancaster (6-5) at Montebello (6-5)

Montebello survived last week with a 22-21 win over Indio. Lancaster ran over Sierra Vista 28-16. The Lancaster running attack might be too much for the Oliers to contain. Should be close early but in Lancaster gains control in the second half.

Lancaster 28 Montebello 16

Arroyo (8-3) at Los Altos (4-7) *Note: The Arroyo-Los Altos game has been moved to Thursday night.

Arroyo started slow losing its first three games but has won eight straight since. Did you know that the Knights have shut out seven opponents this year and has allowed just six points in their eight wins? Los Altos lost four of its first five and finished below .500 on the season but managed to slide into the playoffs. Arroyo’s offense is clicking now as well and catching up to the defense. Knights move on to the semis.

Arroyo 31 Los Altos 14

DIV 14

Rosemead (4-7) at Lynwood (7-4)

People were wondering how Rosemead made the playoffs with a 3-7 record. But the Panthers did quiet some of the critics with a 32-12 win over Silver Valley last week. Lynwood was routed in its last three regular season games and then barely beat Gladstone last week. Lynwood struggled to beat Glendale by two points early in the year. The Panthers get it done.

After watching film Montebello will beat Lancaster, Sierra could of beat them last week but their running back got hurt early looks like lancaster has athletes but no real coaching. Montebello will be coached and ready i say monebello 24-16

Arroyo will probably shut out Los Altos that defense is dangerous and having guys for the next few years their offense should catch up and theyll be making runs for a while.

Being a area guy (SGV) would like to see Rosemead and Bassett advance and they could

If Rosemead can be seen as a rousing success at 4-7, then the NBA needs to get this kind of multi-division scheme going, so the Lakers can feel fine about their record.
