- The Denver Broncos agreed to a trade with the New Orleans Saints to make Sean Payton their new head coach. The Broncos are expected to make Payton one of the highest paid coaches in the league.
- The Houston Texans hired San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans as their new head coach.
- Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull passed away at the age of 84.
- The 49ers current quarterback situation: Brock Purdy has a torn ulnar collateral ligament and will be out six months. Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot in December and is a free agent. Trey Lance fractured his fibula and had torn ligament damage that required two surgeries on his ankle.

- Jacob Ochoa has stepped down as the head football coach at Glendale and will join the football coaching staff at Maranatha.
- The Dodgers agreed to a two-year, $6.65 million contract with right-hander Tony Gonsolin.
- Outfielder Dexter Fowler retired after a 14-year career. Fowler played center field and was the leadoff hitter for the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series winning team.
- Baldwin Park will host La Mirada in Week 4 next season.
- The Chargers hired former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their new OC.
