I believe, with plenty of experience with children, ‘If he loves playing football” take the scholarship (even at lesser , so called academic college) “! Play the game you love, and have loved since little kid,! Because after 2 ( if played community college 2 years) or 4 more years of football he will be greatly satisfied if team experience was good to great! Football, baseball, etc teaches more life skills (even top priority skills) that academia may not . Especially with certain skills. Competition, responsibility to team, not only yourself as in academic classrooms. (Yes I am very well aware it is the ‘academics ‘ that will pay bills your whole life, and vacations, etc) . ? How many players on a regular team? 80 to 100? How many players will grow to love one another? Many! If team is very successful even more. I still have dreams of college baseball. My kids had great experience playing college football, and none were D1. If university is not top 100 academically? Well the student/athlete is in control of his success academically. If goals are be best you possibly can be academically, hell with college ratings! one more assett! i am very glad I proved I have 2 types of INTELLIGENCE…ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC

Tuition at W. Co is $18,000. Tuition at La Verne is $45,000. Over 4 years he’s saving over 100K in tuition. He’s getting a scholarship. Colorado is a beautiful state. He’s playing college football. He’s going to get a degree. He has his whole life to live in Cali. Nothing wrong with getting out of one’s comfort zone.

Some people here are clueless lol

Gunnison Co. is 6,000 folks where WCU is. Last years home field seated 500. It is freezing in football season. The closest big town is 4 hours of mountain driving. The bus rides to opponents games are long windy and did I say long. I hope car sickness is not a problem but you will hear it from teammates LOL. Time for a local kid to learn how to cross country ski. Good luck.

If you can play college basketball and it takes you to different states, you should go for it. So many kids never get to experience traveling to different states and getting to do that on a college team is an amazing experience.

I am all for getting you college paid for. When you graduate from college, you are an alumni for life. Do you want to say you are an alumni from USC, Ucla, Cal, Stanford etc… If you are smart enough to go to Ucla but you can play at La Verne university, what do you do? I’m just saying all these schools that I have not heard of that the schools these athletes are picking. I’m just specking from experience. I played at a school that academically is lesser of a school that I could have got in. Realistically, how many guys or girls are going pro? Answer not many, so picked the best academic institution that you can get in and walk on to the team. More often than not; if you are good enough to get a scholarship at a college, you will make the team you attend. What do you thing?
