(San Gabriel) – Joseph Hartnett, who was previously an assistant coach at Rowland, has been named the new head football coach at Gabrielino pending board approval.
Hartnett takes over for Lorenzo Mena who stepped down after the season. The Eagles went 3-5 last season and 2-3 in the Mission Valley League and missed the playoffs.
Hartnett issued this statement on Twitter:

The actor’s name is Josh Hartnett. Not Joseph. Different guy.
I have to agree with El Capitan. Unless a solid coach and staff work on campus, it’s going to be much of the same. It’s really sad what’s happened to GHS, especially seeing the success of SG. It can be done with the right coach and admin/alumni support (see basketball program).
I thought that actor was MIA. Nice to see a found a gig.
This guy has his work cut out for him. Unless he works on campus, this guy will hang around for 1 maybe 2 years. Once he sees the lack of admin support, no ties to alumni and therefore no real support from alumni, he will be on his way.
Did they have any success at Rowland ?? By what measure ? I guess relative to Gabrielino….the MVL is golden opportunity now for anyone who can build a halfway decent program.
