Partridge Rallies for Ninth Win

(IRWINDALE) – Nearly 3,000 fans were treated to a wild finish in the Langers Juice S2 race and watched Ryan Partridge continue his assault at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale record books.

PEPSI SUPER LATE MODELS – 40 LAPS

Andy Allen got the jump on Dusty Davis and pulled clear early to win the first of two races on the night for the Pepsi Super Late Models.

Allen hadn’t raced in 11 races after wrecking on the opening night.  It was his first victory at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

Davis fell back to fourth in Rip Michels old race car after wrecking his primary car in practice on Friday night.  Prior to the race he guaranteed a win, which fell silent after the first lap.

Luis Martinez Jr had his highest finish of the year with a second-place finish.

Davis’s teammate and current point’s leader in the series Justin Johnson rounded out the top three.

VISTA PAINT SUPER STOCKS – 30 LAPS

Rich De Long III won his first race in five races and continues to lead the Super Stocks in points.

With the win it is De Long’s fifth win of the season.

De Long did have to withstand a late attempt for a pass by Gary Read on the final two laps, but had more forward bite.

The attempt at the win cost Read second place and allowed Eric Sunness to get past on the final jump.

Sunness had been the one shadowing De Long for much of the race until Read past him with two laps to go.

LANGERS JUICE S2 – 25 LAPS

Dylan Lupton won a wild finish as he slid sideways for the win in the Langer’s Juice S2 race.

Lupton lead the entire way and was one turn away from winning easily, when Roman Lagudi got to his door handle and spun Lupton.

What transpired next epitomized short-track racing as Lupton and Lagudi spun uncontrollably to the finish that also saw Joe Anderson, Andrew Porter and Kendall Lopez spin across the line as well.

The front straightaway at Irwindale appeared more like Daytona or Talladega then a normal night at Toyota Speedway.

After the dust settled, it was Lupton who was awarded the win, followed by Lagudi and Anderson for an all Race Car Factory finish.

KING TACO SUPER TRUCKS – 40 LAPS

No one likes to mention perfection during a streak, so when Ryan Partridge came out to run for an attempt at his ninth-straight victory no one brought it up.

Partridge started on the fourth row and was involved in some early bumping to tie a record for his ninth straight victory and has yet to finish worst than first in the King Taco Super Trucks.

Pat Mintey Jr made a valiant effort to become the spoiler and led the first 20 laps only to watch his one second lead dwindled to nothing when a caution was thrown.

After the green was dropped, it took Partridge a couple of laps to take the lead from Mintey.

For Mintey, it has been a long week as he had to worry about the Crown Fire in the Palmdale area.

Partridge won’t have to wait long to break the record as he comes back next week.

KEN PORTER AUCTIONS CLASSIC STOCK & OPEN COMP – 35 LAPS

After spinning wildly in the Langers Juice S2, Joe Anderson romped home to a convincing win in the Open Comp race on the third-mile of Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

Anderson took the lead on the third lap and was never really in danger of losing after the 20th lap.

Three different race classes finished in the top three as a Pro Modified finished second with Rick Crow aboard.

A Super Late Model with Adrianne Murlin was third.

Ken Michaelian came back to the Winner’s Circle in the Ken Porter Auctions Classic Stock class as he was the best of the remaining Classic Stocks.

PEPSI SUPER LATE MODEL – 40 LAPS

Justin Johnson re-took the lead on the 23rd lap and cruised to a 1.927 second victory.  It was Johnson’s seventh win on the season and extended his lead in the points lead by 12 points.

Andy Allen continued his strong night as he led for 10 laps from laps 13 to 23 and was passed in turn two on the 23rd on a low pass by Johnson.

Allen finished second and backed up his first place finish earlier on the night.

David Beat had his best finish of the year with his third place finish to round out the podium.
