  1. Boys Basketball: Arcadia beat Pasadena 56-52 Thursday night in a Pacific League battle. 
  2. Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard, who was reportedly going to USC, has transferred to Ohio State.
  3. Former USC receiver Michael Jackson III has transferred to Georgia. 
  4. UCLA hired former Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo as its tight ends coach. 
  5. Michigan is a 4.5 favorite over Washington Monday night in the CFP National Championship game. 
  6. Outfielder Michael Brantley, a five-time All-Star and World Series champion, announced he is retiring from baseball after 15 seasons. 
  7. Nine of the 14 playoff spots in the NFL have been clinched going into this weekend’s games but the AFC South, AFC East, and NFC East are still up for grabs. 
  8. Running back Dalvin Cook, who was released by the New York Jets Tuesday, signed with the Baltimore Ravens Thursday. 
  9. The San Francisco Giants acquired 2021 Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray from the Seattle Mariners for outfielder Mitch Haniger and right-hander Anthony DeSclafani. 
  10. 310babii will perform at halftime of the SGV Bowl Saturday night January 13 at Covina District Field.
