(Temple City) – Temple City allowed two runs on wild pitches in the fifth inning and fell to Flintridge Prep 2-1 Saturday at Temple City.
Temple City picked up its lone in the third inning when Jack DeKarr was hit by a pitch, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit to left by Parker Thomas.
Flintridge Prep had three hits in the fourth inning but had a runner caught stealing and another runner thrown out at the plate.
The Wolves broke through in the fifth on two base hits and a pair of wild pitches to take a 2-1 lead. The Flintridge Prep pitching was able to make it stand up the rest of the way.
Sebastian Esparza beat out an infield hit with two out in the seventh inning but the Rams were unable to cash him in.
Flintridge Prep used two pitchers in the contest. For Temple City, Daniel Matta started and worked two innings and didn’t allow a run followed by Jack Scanlan who also threw two scoreless frames. Thomas came on in the fifth inning and the Wolves were able to score the tying and go ahead runs.
Temple City dropped to 1-2 on the season with the loss while Flintridge Prep improved to 2-1.
