(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”

  1. The Dallas Mavericks routed the Boston Celtics 122-84 Friday night in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The Celtics still lead the series 3-1. Game 5 is Monday night in Boston.
  2. The Edmonton Oilers routed the Florida Panthers 8-1 Saturday night in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Panthers still lead the series 3-1. 
  3. Charles Barkley announced on NBATV that he will be retiring from television after next year no matter what happens with TNT. 
  4. The Dodgers placed right hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list with tightness in the triceps of his pitching arm. 
  5. The Houston Astros pulled pitcher Ronel Blanco after he had thrown seven hitless innings Sunday. The Astros went on to beat the Detroit Tigers 4-1. Blanco also threw no-hitter April 1 against the Toronto Blue Jays. 
  6. The Birmingham Stallions beat the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0 Sunday to win the United Football League Championship.  
  7. Bryson DeChambeau won the U.S. Open by one stroke over Rory McIlroy Sunday  
  8. Charter Oak wide receiver Legend Lyons has committed to the University of Minnesota.
  9. Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins signed his franchise tag Saturday and will be back in training camp. 
  10. Dodgers’ shortstop Mookie Betts fractured his left hand when he was hit by a pitch from Dan Altavilla in the seventh inning in a game against the Kansas City Royals Sunday. The injury will not require surgery but Betts is expected to be out for “some time”. The Dodgers went on to beat the Royals 3-0.

    11) CalPreps 2024 preseason and previews are up. I don’t remember them being up this early before .

    #1 & #2 So 122-84 is a rout but 3-1 is a rout also? Then why is 4-1 just a beating? Asking for a friend.
    From T. Peterson: That was a typo. Edmonton actually won 8-1 justifying the rout. I think I had 3-1 on my mind because Florida is up 3-1 in the series.
