arroyo being the one to win a game or two is the ridiculous and disgusting part
SGV hometown lol.
Schurr went from top seed in 7 ( good 28% chance at title ) to bottom
seed in 6 (2.4% chance at title ) allegedly because of including 10 teams in Division 1 . Why? Why does that matter? I’m not a Schurr fan or supporter but there’s no fairness to this and at least a dozen other scenarios …
Just have a big spin. Broadcast it and spin for winners titles if you want to make it completely equitable .
That’s way too logical.
I don’t think CIF thinks like that
Anonymous ? but does the administration care
D10 thru D14. That is where real hometown football is played and where the fun is.
Or the fact that that RHL already was given an At Large birth to San Marino who had 2 league wins vs TC 1 league win.
Not only did they get in , they are #2 seed . This is the year . Every Titan has their day ! Let’s go-go-go
Temple City fans upset that PiHi got in over them. It must have been the shut out Pioneer pitched in the last game of the season that CIF officials noticed.
Schurr was placed in Division 6 and gets to play at Muir in the first round of the playoffs. I think I can safely say that the Spartans drew a tough opponent; if they get past the Mustangs, they will have definitely earned the trip to the quarterfinals.
@Tuffy: They got in!!!!!
@ Just An Ol’ Has Been: Yeah, the Schurr Death Star has been unstoppable since that early loss to La Serna. The competition might get a little tougher for the Spartans in the next week or two, though.
Crazy thing is if they got in they could roll, lots of very bad D14 automatic qualifiers
Statman, I thought we would have a better showing as well. I had heard Schurr was good. I just thought we’d have a better showing.
We must wave the white flag and tip our caps to Schurr.
Let’s see how things play out in postseason games.
@ LP: Thanks. I’ve been wrong sometimes, too.
5-5 Pioneer could qualify for a D15 At Large spot.
Great win against the slime 👏
Good call on that one Ron
I was wrong on that one . Montebello went down the drain at end of year and judging by that score basically quit
South Pas is the surprise winner of the Rio Hondo League. Surprising that they went into La Canada and beat them by 3 scores. According to a local publication, that is their first Rio Hondo League outright title since 1976! Congratulations Tigers.
Well, the Schurr Death Star just keeps plowing through the Almont galaxy; it will be interesting to see whether the Spartans can make a playoff run.
I’m not particularly surprised that Schurr beat Bell Gardens, but I thought the game would be a lot closer.
As for San Gabriel vs. Montebello, I believed that San Gabriel was peaking at just the right time for its final league game against the Oilers. The San Gabriel team I saw a week ago played a clean game against Alhambra, meaning that the Matadors had no turnovers and were penalized only three times for just 30 yards.
In contrast, the Montebello squad I watched two weeks earlier was extremely mistake-prone, committing three turnovers and piling up 151 yards in penalties against us.
But I have to admit that the final score of 41-7 is pretty astounding.
Congratulations to The Cathedral Phantoms.Angelus League Champs.
@ Anonymous: They might get around to considering their options as soon as you start typing your posts in complete, grammatically correct sentences.
However, based on past experience, first-year head coaches whose teams perform poorly are often allowed another year or two to get their programs headed back in the right direction.
Chino hot at the right time going to make a run. Schurr going to get a tough one again. The whole MVL in D14 is crazy.
Funny how now that Arroyo sucks FridayKnight stopped blogging.
Typical get back coach.
I think he knows it was gonna happen.
All-time lows for Tosemead and Montebello
SG 41-Montebello 7
From T. Peterson: Thanks. It’s posted.
Someone check on @FridayKnights 🤡
Gab v Rosemead score ?
Did they get in another brawl this year ?
Also SG v Montebello score ?
Rough night for the BG , Arroyo, and Santa Fe vocal locals . Strength of schedule is meaningful.
La Canada and Burroughs soft and descending . Will Burroughs even make playoffs ?
Surprises of the night : Chino beats Covina , does that make them league champs? And Maranatha succumbing to Whittier Christian !
This really shows a tougher schedule can wear a team down , compared to cupcake schedule of last two years
Finally the unsuccessful year is over for Alhambra
When the alhambra administration firing the football coach time to go hire an actual coach who will elevate the program bring in kids
Went to the game with family all bundled up on a crisp Autumn night. Friday Night Lights on Thursday. Great. No lights. No notice. No hot chocolate. No………
Winning vs. Losing
Losing won…
I join Tuffy in lamenting the Titans’ chance to achieve the ultimate by defeating Glenn on the field last night. I understand that with the on-field win, the team was scheduled to join the Dodgers in today’s parade, where the cheers for the gridiron kids would be even louder than those for the baseball club.
Low number. More players quit
The story of the night is Glenn forfeiting to Pioneer costing Titan players stats for all league and a final night of glory . Why couldn’t they play ? They have an NFL coach . What happened?
