- Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who just finished coaching a high school team to a state championship, is coming out of retirement to sign with the Detroit Lions.
- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson passed Michael Vick for most rushing yards by a quarterback in the NFL in a win over the Houston Texans Wednesday. Jackson now has 6,110 career rushing yards. Jackson has played seven full seasons less than Vick.

- Miami Hurricanes head basketball coach Jim Larranaga has stepped down after 14 seasons.

- Arcadia beat Mayfair 77-74 Thursday at the Damien Classic. The Apaches improved to 7-4 on the season.
