(Arcadia)- Owen Edwards hit a shot just outside the lane with eight seconds left and Arcadia held on to beat Burbank 35-32 Thursday night in Pacific League action on the Apaches home floor.
It wasn’t pretty, in fact at times the game bore a strange resemblance to a cat named Frankenstein. But it was a league win and an important one for the Apaches.
“We missed a lot of shots and we missed a lot of free throws. I didn’t expect that the game would be this close,” said Arcadia head coach Nick Wallace. “But it is a league win and we’re 2-0 in league.”
Arcadia got off to a slow start hitting just 2 of 15 shots in the first quarter. Burbank got a pair of three balls from Kevin Dehbashian and led 9-8 after one.

Arcadia warmed up a little in the second. Nico Mokhtari knocked down a couple of threes and Alec Mozakian also nailed one from behind the arc. The Apaches won the quarter 12-8 to take four-point halftime lead.
Arcadia increased the lead to seven by the end of the third quarter as Nick Wallace Jr. hit three free throws and Edwards again scored inside.
The Apaches only scored three points in the final frame, including the bucket from Edwards, but Burbank wasn’t able to take advantage and came up three short. After Edwards scored late the Bulldogs had one last shot but Dehbashian’s heave from long distance fell short.
Edwards led Arcadia with nine points, Mokhtari had eight, Tyrese Butler had five and Mozakian added four. For Burbank Dehbashian led all scorers with 13 and Anthony Jawiche and Jonathan Ong each finished with four.
Arcadia, which now gets ready for Hoover next Tuesday, improved to 12-8 overall and 2-0 in the Pacific. Burbank fell to 13-4 and 0-1.
