(Azusa Pacific) – Azusa Pacific fell behind by 11 points in the first half and could never recover in the second in a 70-59 loss to Point Loma Wednesday night in PacWest action at Felix Event Center.
The two teams played each other pretty even through the first 12 minutes. Azusa Pacific led 21-20 with 7:35 left in the first half.
Point Loma then went on a 17-5 run to close out the first half and take a 37-26 lead into the break.

The Sea Lions knocked down three consecutive threes to highlight the run as Luke Haupt, Andrew Hommes and Zack Paulsen all nailed shots from behind the arc in succession.
Haupt, Paulsen and Pierce Davis all had seven points for Point Loma in the first half to lead the Sea Lions.
Maui Sze had five points for Azusa Pacific including a three ball and Michael Saba, Charlie Gehler and Kaleb Taylor all scored four.
The Cougars shot just 32 percent in the first half while Point Loma shot 48 percent.
The Cougars were dead even with the Sea Lions in the second half playing them to a 33-33 tie but it wasn’t enough as they weren’t able to cut into the lead.

Azusa Pacific made one run and cut the lead to three at 53-50 with 6:47 left in the game. But Point Loma was able to open it back up to nine with 2:48 remaining and went on to the 11-point win.
The Sea Lions had four players in double figures with Haupt leading the way with 16 points. Paulsen had 14, Davis 13 and Tyce Paulsen added 11. Point Loma finished the game shooting 46 percent overall from the field.
For APU, no player finished in doubles. Gehler, Saba, Shant Chenorhavorian and Sze all scored eight points. Taylor and Jordan Hansen each had seven points. Saba also hauled in seven boards. The Cougars shot 38 percent from the floor for the game.
The Cougars fell to 12-14 overall and 7-11 in the PacWest Conference while the Sea Lions improved to 22-5 and 15-2 with the victory.
