CIF success is more about being in right place at right time . Losing games that you maybe shouldn’t have places you in lower division , where maybe you can dominate . So losing is rewarded , and playing over your head to win is negativity reinforced. A championship doesn’t mean what it used to.
Ah yes; 1-9 teams making the playoffs. That is a joke; it was only a few years ago that teams which went 8-2 in the regular season couldn’t get in.
I liked the previous playoff system better, even though it wasn’t perfect. Quality football was more of a priority then.
They have managed to overplay their hand, they end up in divisions way too high and get ousted early. They would need to end up 6-4 or 5-5 to end up in D4.

Or they could go 1-9 and get a D9 state title. The entire system is laughable.

A good 7-3 season that gets them a D4 championship
