Stadium The Mountain View new stadium took a year and half I think. But I suggest that the new field was not played on this past season?
The original plans were definitely ambitious and would’ve given a lot of the top schools in so cal a run for their money, unfortunately politics got in the way, glad politics can’t halt what has finally been achieved.
It’s sad but true that a very good renovation could have been made of ER’s old sports layout by spending only what it cost to tear it all down. Former board member Aurora Villon liked to claim that the new
construction would make the school “second to none.” Apparently, she never visited Mira Costa high in Manhattan Beach, a magnificent 40-acre campus that puts anything to shame.
Patino would still be here if he didn’t pass away, the new baseball coach is a joke. Medrano was not hired by Orosco. Orosco did screw things up royally, he had that chance to really do some great things but got big headed and his political allies got recalled. Orosco didn’t get recalled, he didn’t run for re-election because he knew it was a lost cause and wouldn’t have a board majority. At this point I don’t care who takes credit for it, the community deserved it and now it’s here.
It’s about time this thing is getting done. I remember voting on this measure 10 years ago and I don’t even live in Pico anymore! It’s about 5 years too late and 100’s of thousands $ wasted later, but better late than never I guess.
While all the current politicos and superintendent will slap each other on the back for such a momentous occasion, I would like to remind everyone that it was actually public enemy #1 who got this whole thing going, Gabriel Orosco.
Orosco had a vision to build a whole new school which passed but then made some enemies for dumb firings and was ousted of the board. This meant everyone looked under the hood and some bad things were found so the original construction plan was stopped and thrown out the window.
You also have to give a huge s/o to Medrano for being able to continue to push for the blue turf which was his idea from the beginning and for being one of the only coaches or administrators who was hired during Orosco’s time who is still at ER. Because it was well known that if you were an Orosco guy, then it meant you were gone after he was recalled.
Much like Covina question is who will be QB? Great coaching staff. I see them going either 7-3 or 6-4 with a good D10-D12 run.
Losses to SH, LS, ES, and that SF game is a tossup. But As long as SF has Clark at RB, I give them the edge.
QB issue pretty much settled. For never an offensive player Medrano is always able to coach up his QB and get him to over perform.

9-1 to 6-4… matters how WC is with their new HC and SH. LS an automatic L I see them beating SF.
Could be a 6-4 season, the 27 class had a huge impact during the CIF Finals run of ‘24, they are now going to get the chance to be in the spotlight. A considerable amount of returners, plug in a few young dudes in a few spots, maybe a transfer or 2 and the Dons could be making another one of those deep Medrano playoff runs.
Na… I drive by there daily, the work could be done in a week. It will be done by 4/21.
Despite the school’s claim that the new stadium will be dedicated this month, a quick drive by the place reveals that it’s nowhere near being complete. If they want to celebrate the blue field being in place, OK, but the restrooms and team rooms are only just now being outfitted with plumbing and electrical. A good rule of thumb on ANY construction is that whatever they tell you regarding time frame, double it…and whatever they say it will cost, double that too.
WestCo game is 9/5.
From T. Peterson: Typo. Got it. Thanks.
