  1. Cathedral won the 1st Annual 3rd and Long Tournament at Baldwin Park Saturday.
  2. The Denver Nuggets beat the Clippers 120-101 Saturday to win their first-round Western Conference Playoff series in seven games.
  3. Sovereignty, with Junior Alvarado aboard, won the Kentucky Derby Saturday.
  4. Greg Popovich will transition from head coach to team president for the San Antonio Spurs. Assistant Mitch Johnson, who has been the interim head coach since November, will take over as permanent head coach.
  5. Azusa Pacific’s Mikey Easter, who hails from Arcadia High School, hit a walk-off double in his final collegiate at bat to give the Cougars a 9-8 win over Westmont last Thursday night.
  6. Former Rams’ offensive tackle Joe Noteboom reached an agreement on a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
  7. The Dodgers called up South Korean Hyeseong Kim from Oklahoma City Saturday and placed second baseman Tommy Edman on the IL.
  8. LeBron James suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee in the fourth quarter of the Lakers Game 5 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday according to a league source.
  9. Arcadia beat Crescenta Valley twice last week to go undefeated in the Pacific League. The Apaches are ranked number 38 in the nation according to the latest Baseball America Top 50 poll.
  10. The Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets 103-89 Sunday to win their first-round Western Conference Playoff series in seven games. The Western Conference Semi-Finals are set. Golden State vs. Minnesota; Oklahoma City vs. Denver.

    It’s way past time for the Lakers to stop clinging to the outsized ego and salary of Lebron James. These are not the days of old man Buss and the Showtime Lakers, yet offspring Jeannie tries to follow her daddy’s advice of keeping superstars around to add flair. Kobe’s last two years of inflated salary kept the team from making proper personnel moves, and now that dynamic looks set to repeat with a likely massive final Lebron offering. Enough already!
