When he was asst. HC and DC to Podley at Bonita they had a power house W.C. team with multiple D1 stars beaten in the championship game until an untimely play. Still the best game I ever saw. Those Bonita teams then were not loaded as they are today.
if Paredes and MV earns a playoff spot in his first two years it should prove his worth in head coaching high school football! The last time MV earned a CIF playoff berth was how long ago/ Maybe 20 years ago/? But I suggest more than twenty . And how many times has MV football program made the playoffs in its over 5 decades history? I guess 4 times only : a couple times in the 80’s , and I guess one time since ! So if Paredes is this successful improving one of the consistently worst programs in the valley in two , or even three seasons, I pick him. If El Monte can get a bit deeper into the playoffs ( is this season the third or fourth season for Spathias and staff) he is good pick
Mark Parades? 3 CIF titles should be enough. Even though he’s a Mountain View now, that shouldn’t take him out of the conversation. Plus, he should get extra points for taking on such a huge challenge.
Burbank: Hector Valencia deserves at least an honorable mention. He resuscitated a Burbank HS Football program that deflated for a little in a time the football culture was changing and plagued by COVID-19
Bogan, Carson probably the favorites. But show me a coach that has taken a losing program and turned it into a winning program? Maybe Spathias? very under rated, it seems he just finds a way to win with the local kids.
I gotta give it to Adrian Medrano time and time again gets the most out of whoever he gets to show up on that field, doesn’t recruit, doesn’t chase kids, doesn’t get caught up in the shenanigans of today’s high school football world, has made multiple playoff runs including this years Finals appearance. He is often overshadowed by the Whittier union monster La Serna being in the Del Rio, but I find it hard to find anyone else who has accomplished as much as he has with the talent or lack thereof that he gets.
My vote goes to Steve Bogan of Bonita, a true area legend. The man’s approach to the game attracts top talent, and once in his care, that talent is maximized. No open enrollment hocus-pocus, and no private school shenanigans; just honest, tried-and-true
methodology and hard work.

@? Wasn’t he at Bonita???? You can just go check those stats and its pretty much the same as it is at ER.
I’ve long wondered how Medrano would do coaching up top talent.

A coach that is a consistent CIF participant and goes deep into playoffs with variations of talent

Eric Peralta led walnut to back to back CIF championship appearances. He should definitely be talked about more. He turned things around for Walnut
