Jose Lima had made the transition that many athletes are never able to make. After 13 years in the big leagues and numerous stints in the minor leagues, Dominican leagues and leagues here and beyond, he had retired. While other athletes can’t accept life away from the playing field, Lima was embracing it.

Former Dodger Lima Dies of Heart Attack

Jose Lima, 37, who pitched for several Major League teams including the Dodgers, died Sunday at his home of an apparent heart attack. “He was complaining while sleeping but I thought he was having a nightmare,” Lima’s wife Dorca Astacio told ESPN Deportes. “I called the paramedics but they couldn’t help him.”
