- Seattle OC Klint Kubiak coached his last game for the Seahawks and will now take over as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.
- Seattle’s Sam Darnold became the first quarterback from USC to start a Super Bowl game.
- New England rushed for only 79 yards in the game led by quarterback Drake Maye who ran for 37 yards on 5 carries.
- Patriots quarterback Drake Maye turned the ball over three times in the Super Bowl as he threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.
- Atlanta Falcons linebacker James Pearce Jr. had a domestic dispute with WNBA player Rickea Jackson that resulted in five felony charges against him. He s out of jail after posting a bond of $20,500 Sunday.
- Former Washington defensive back Barry Wilburn, who led the NFL in interceptions in 1987 died in a house fire Friday at the age of 62.
- Hall of Fame quarterback Sonny Jurgenson, who held franchise passing records for the Phildelphia Eagles and Washington, passed away at the age of 91.
- The Chicago Bears are promoting passing game coordinator Press Taylor to be their next offensive coordinator.
The real NFL title game this year was that Rams-Seahawks NFC title matchup. The Patriots have to be ranked third this year. But, since the SuperBowl has to be NFC versus AFC, the Patriots’ players all get that second-place money of $103,000 per head. I imagine that makes the Rams players feel just great.
