Tartans Hold off Vikings in Sierra League Opener, 31-27

By Rich Whittington (Covina) – The Glendora Tartans opened Sierra League play with a victory Thursday evening, defeating the host Northview Vikings 31-27 in front of a formidable crowd at Covina Valley District Field.

Mid Valley High School Football Top 12

Benjamin Cortez and the Conquerors are undefeated through the first five games. Six of the 12 teams had byes last week meaning there wasn’t a lot of movement. Charter Oak had a big win over St. Francis while Damien came up short against Servite. Los Altos prevailed over El Rancho in a hard-fought battle.

Charter Oak Has Just Enough for St. Francis

(Covina, CA) The Charter Oak Chargers and the St. Francis Golden Knights clashed for the first time in the history of both schools with the Chargers edging out the Golden Knights 20-16 Friday night at Lou Farrar Stadium at Charter Oak High School.

Los Altos quarterback Luke Rodriguez was a threat on the ground and through the air. By Tim Peterson (Hacienda Heights) – Nicholas Castillo picked off a pass with 1:17 left to lift Los Altos to a 21-18 win over El Rancho Friday night at Los Altos.

Moors Achieve Liftoff at Glenn, 33-0

By Ron Vrooman (Norwalk) – Junior running back Nathan Rabadan carried the ball 15 times for 194 yards and a touchdown to lead visiting Alhambra to a 33-0 win over the Glenn Eagles in a nonleague game Friday night.
