On The Couch: May 13

Better late than never.

I don’t know what is worse.

Actually missing a post-game hockey fight during the Anaheim Ducks and Detroit Redwings or not being able to post early due to more complications with my laptop.

For the mean time while waiting for a vital part to my laptop, we will have late editions to this daily column.  So instead of having your stomach upset during breakfast it will be during dinner.

I guess honesty is everything in baseball.

Bobby Jenks throws and hits Ian Kinsler.  Admits to having on intending to hit him.  What is the  fine?

$750 big ones.  Yup that is not a typo.

Can someone in the MLB office clarify why the fine was so small.  Was it because Jenks hit Kinsler in the buttocks?

At least Jenks hit him in the right spot.  Maybe Roger Clemens can take some honesty lessons from him.

Isn’t it funny how we bemoan A-Rod and Clemens for allegedly juicing, yet Joe Torosian is counting the days that the fertility god returns to the Dodgers.

While we were sleeping Jason Taylor and Bill Parcells kiss and made up in Miami.

It could also be that Taylor realized what a nuthouse Washington was so he didn’t want to re-sign with the Redskins.

How bad are things in New England when Taylor doesn’t want to play for a playoff team?  Am I reading to much into it.

I was impressed with last night’s guests.

Katie Tripoli was outstanding and forthcoming.  She has a great head on her shoulders.

How many athletes think down the road to a “real” career after sports.

Vache Sevajian was awesome to talk to off air.  The green room is a great place to get little tidbits about a storied football program like UCLA.

Yes I said storied.

Wardell Crutchfield and Antoyne Sims are doing the right thing and getting kids to realize how important school is.  They are great mentors in football and in the classroom.  Both have been important parts of kids lives.

Thomas Luce is a racing historian who preserved the past with his book.  It is a must read.  Lots of pictures so Scanlan shouldn’t have any problems reading it.

One last thought, what is it with all the guests being Dodgers fans?  We need to find some Angels fans to come on the show.
