High School Top 20: Mid-Valley Division

Devontae Young and San Marino drop to 13 after loss to Rosemead

Whittier Christian’s win over St. Margaret’s has the Herald faithful believing they might run the regular season table. Azusa could go undefeated as well but they do have a test this week with La Puente. Covina lost in overtime but to a solid Southeast team in Walnut.

Schurr’s win over El Toro in Mission Viejo was nothing short of miraculous. Monrovia’s loss was hard to swallow but all it means for now is that the Wildcats drop a spot below San Dimas in the Top 20.

1. Whittier Christian (4-0): Win over St. Margaret’s solidifies top ranked status.

2. San Dimas (2-2): Saints stun Wildcats; move to number two.

3. Monrovia (1-2): This one will sting in M-Town for awhile.

4. Azusa (3-0): Okay it was Gabby. But folks, it was 34-0.

5. Covina (3-1): Colts did everything except win at Walnut.

6. Arroyo (3-1): Rivera or no, Knights weren’t going to beat Hart.

7. Schurr (1-2): Aaron Cantu fires four touchdowns in upset at El Toro.

8. Rosemead (2-1): Matt Fregoso goes for two hundred plus, three scores.

9. La Canada (2-1): LC falls short in shootout with CV.

10. Wilson (2-1): Keith Hawk ball hawk for Wildcats.

11. Pomona (3-1): For the record Anthony Rice didn’t schedule Chino Hills.

12. Village Christian (3-1): Crusaders drop 81 on Bernstein.

13. San Marino (2-1): With Kwame Do out Titans missing a home run hitter.

15. La Puente (2-1): Warriors game of the year is Friday night against Azusa.

16. South Pasadena (3-0): Tigers just keep getting the W. Glendale latest victim.

17. Bell Gardens (1-2): Offense showed up against Cantwell; defense didn’t.

18. San Gabriel (1-3): Mats get off the floor with win over Contreras.

19. Sierra Vista (3-0): Dons still perfect after rout of Keppel.

Number of teams represented in each league: Valle Vista 4, Rio Hondo 4, Olympic 3, MVL 2, Montview 3, Almont 4

Note: Baldwin Park was bounced out of the Top 20 after its fourth straight loss. The Braves have a tough schedule but they need a win. Alhambra creeps in for the first time this year after back to back wins over Temple City and LA Wilson. The Moors get South Pas this week.
