Fanview Lite: October 9th

Joe Torosian

Good Afternoon!

Oh, I’ve always been a Billy Livingston fan… and now I see someone has finally joined me in the quarterback poll.

I’m just a caveman…this world of football frightens and confuses me sometimes…but I do know this; If I’m running a defense the first thing I take away from Monrovia is the inside slant route in a passing situation.

Nick Bueno and the Wildcats continue to burn teams with this play…

Welcome back Garrett Pendleton. The Bonita quarterback returned to action and fired three touchdown passes and threw for 225 yards as the Bearcats improved to 5-0.

…And they’re dancing in the streets of La Verne!

For six weeks San Dimas HC Bill Zernickow has been saying his team has a bunch of things they need to fix…After last night’s loss to Baldwin Park at home time may be running out on the Saints… No kidding…

Former San Gabriel HC Keith Jones was on the Arcadia sideline Friday evening… I asked him if he was ready to come back and coach… Told him I’d be his OC….then he said: “No Joe, I want you to work with my quarterbacks.”

Don’t know if I should be flattered or if he insulted my ability to call plays.

So the Apaches come out and score right off the bat against Muir…Star New staffer Miguel Melendez tells me the Mustangs have been having trouble answering all season. “I bet you they go three and out,” he says.

Okay…Muir gets a good kick-off return…Two plays later they are deep in Apache territory…”Well so much for three and out,” he says.

“This is the third play,” I told him. It was…The Mustangs fumbled it and Nadir Doumani returned it 72-yards for touchdown to make it 14-0 Arcadia.

I didn’t have a pizza to give Melendez so I gave him the Charms Blow Pop (sour apple) I was saving for the second half.

Wildcat, Wild Horses…Wild Knight? What is a Wild Knight, Jim Singiser and Doug Stevens dancing the Macarena on a table at Lamp Post?

Note to El Monte Faithful: Don’t even worry about the 40-16 loss to Chino, don’t worry about the 1-4 non-league record…Everything you want is still right in front of you. With the exception of Arroyo, everybody in the Mission Valley can be beat.

I am prepared to go into court and make the argument that Arcadia’s Taylor Lagace tilts the field in his team’s favor like no player since Temple City’s Desmond Reed.

South Carolina has finally earned my forgiveness for secession…A victory over a Nick Saban led Alabama team will do that.

Essentially Chase Price is very good…I’m glad because if Diamond Ranch had lost to Walnut I never would have heard the end of it.

With everything that has happened, South Pasadena a question mark, La Canada & San Marino banged up, Temple City has a shot at second place… SAY WHAT! …I said Temple City has a shot at second place… and that would mean playoffs…

I’ve been informed by current Mid Valley staffer Josh Lowden an apology may be in order from me to Monrovia DC Craig Schuster… My apologies…

Wonder if Peterson is still hot for Cal? Montebello’s victory over the Condors is just the beginning. The Oilers will be a factor in the Almont.

I said Northview was due for a win…Congrats to Marcel Perez.

Schurr will shake off its loss to St. Paul, more important is the condition of Abraham Gonzalez going forward. He’s a “Bad Dude” deluxe on both sides of the ball.

Since I’m handing out apologies…My apologies to Cantwell…

On the other hand Whittier Christian is going to be fine…but Valley Christian’s 26-13 victory over St. Margaret’s and Maranatha’s rout of Western Christian…does mean the Olympic League season will be a blood feud.

Stay thirsty my friends…
