High School Football Top 20: Southeast Division

Chase Price of Diamond Ranch had a huge game in comeback win over Walnut

Southeast Division rolls into the heart of league play with the Del Rio League beginning this week with a marquee match-up in La Serna at El Rancho.

Not to be out done is the Hacienda League which will showcase “The Branding Iron” when Walnut visits Diamond Bar on Friday night. Rowland faces a must-win situation when they head into Ganesha H.S. to face Diamond Ranch.

Young upstarts in Arcadia face Burroughs in what promises to be a showcase of star players in Taylor Legace (Arcadia) and Zander Anding (Burroughs). Crescenta Valley can start 3-0 and add a nail in the coffin at Muir.

The Suburban League should stay to form as Bellflower faces winless Artesia and La Mirada takes on Cerritos.

1. Bonita (5-0) – Garrett Pendleton returns to the Bearcats and offense doesn’t miss a beat.

2. West Covina (5-1) – Head into the bye week on a five-game winning streak.

3. Burbank (4-1) – Bulldogs went for the knock-out punch early against Glendale and connected.

4. La Serna (5-1) – Must continue consistent play in crazy Del Rio League.

5. Diamond Ranch (3-3) – Down by 21 at the half, still lasso Mustangs at the end.

6. Norwalk (3-3) – Lancers get a break before heading into the homestretch in Suburban.

7. Rowland (4-2) – Losses are to teams with a combined 9-2 record.

8. El Rancho (4-1) – Didn’t look ahead against Fontana, faces La Serna in key Del Rio League match-up.

9. Mayfair (3-3) – Monsoons took care of business against Cerritos and now face winless Glenn.

10. Crescenta Valley (4-1) – Hopefully for Falcons Marro Lee returns sooner than later.

11. Arcadia (3-2) – As Joe T. said, “Signature win against Muir” has them in the thick of Pacific League race.

12. La Mirada (3-3) – Nothing like a little cupcake to make things better.

13. Burroughs (2-3) – Big Pacific League test against Apaches to see if non-league schedule paid dividends.

14. Muir (1-4) – No matter how good Mustangs are slow starts and turnovers will not win many games.

15. Bellflower (4-2) – Proved they were human with loss to Lancers. Get Artesia as reward.

16. Santa Fe (2-3) – Good news is they nearly doubled their points output in win against Downey. Bad news is they can’t see Downey every week.

17. Diamond Bar (4-2) – Asking if Sierra league has an opening after giving up 84 points in two Hacienda League losses.

18. Walnut (2-3) – Tale of two halves for Mustangs who went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse after leading by 21 against Diamond Ranch.-

19. Pioneers (3-2) – Titans are 3-0 against teams that combined are 1-15, 0-2 against teams that are 8-3.

20. Hoover (1-4) – Give me another one win team that scores as many points as the Tornadoes.
