Lions RB Michael Jimenez has rushed for nearly a 1,000 yards and scored 11 touchdowns this season.

Good Afternoon!

I knew Michael Jimenez was good…didn’t I say something about that a few weeks ago after El Monte beat Gladstone?…Yeah, I believe I did. Jimenez was the equivalent of a bomb going off Friday…a four touchdown Ka-Boom!

Congratulations to Maranatha HC Joel Murphy…(On his loss to Whittier Christian?)…on the arrival of his first child, a girl, this past Thursday night.

***

After Grant Escobar’s performance last night I’m sure all the usual scouts will start showing up when he’s a senior next year…Big colleges, small colleges, in between colleges, and SPECIAL FORCES.

***

…And bingo…Temple City is in the playoff hunt…

***

One of the most interesting scores last night was Claremont 31 Chino Hills 30. Didn’t think the Wolfpack would beat them. Now I’m not ready to go full blitz into the Sierra League but one thing is for certain; Bonita’s win over Claremont is looking better and better by the day…Remember the Bearcats won their match with Wolfpack by three touchdowns with a back up quarterback.

Last Add Bonita: Starting quarterback Garrett Pendleton went 15 of 22 for 198 yards and three touchdowns against Los Altos on Friday.

***

Whittier Christian-Maranatha One More Time: Only four penalty flags were thrown all night…and one of them was waved off by the officials…No holding penalties, no personal fouls, no sideline warnings, no face mask calls…

***

Last Add Dark Side of the Moon: After seeing Temple City’s Josh Simangunsong rush for 115 yards and two touchdowns I’m tempted to ask San Marino HC Mike Mooney what he thought of his performance…Oh no…“What did I think of his performance? The guys scored two blanking touchdowns and rushed for over a hundred yards! You want to know what I think of his performance?”

Sorry I asked…

***

Is it true one assistant coach at Whittier Christian last night came up to me in the third quarter and said his head set wasn’t working? Was he implying that was the reason Maranatha’s Josh Jones was torching his defense for three touchdowns?… My lips our sealed but the assistant’s initials are PK…

To get an idea of what the office is like at The Mid on a Friday night this might give you an idea; “Where the Schurr-Bell Gardens score! Where’s Matt Schuler!! Where’s my blanking story!!!”

Other than that everything is pretty calm…

***

Last Add BG: Remember the old saying that you didn’t have to show up at an NBA game until the last five minutes to see the real action and who won? Same can be said for the Spartans-Lancers affair Friday night. Aaron Cantu and company (including a healthy Abraham Gonzalez) survived an extremely close shave down the 710.

***

Note to rest of the Almont: In case there was any doubt, Bell Gardens can take anybody out…so can Montebello…

***

Speaking of old sayings…in the case of San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva…remember what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.

***

This Just In: The Wilson coaching staff was recently scene not helping an old lady across the street, not returning a shopping cart to the appropriate collection spot at Target, and were recorded (on videotape) chewing gum while in line at the DMV… There will be heck to pay for that… Especially for trying to roll the cart and not throw it…

***

Nice bounce back for Walnut against Diamond Bar…and since we’re speaking about Mustangs…Muir got exactly what it needed at Crescenta Valley…a big fat win against a very respectable team. While Muir has been derailed early on by numerous injuries, they did get the advantage of facing a Falcon team without Marro Lee.

***

The dreaded 600-word limit bell is about to ring…

***

I don’t know why…I believe my judgement is clouded…Probably suffering from PTSFD (Post Traumatic Santa Fe Disorder)…but I can’t get around the playoff losses Santa Fe has suffered in the past…I have an involuntary reaction when they play that they are always going to come up short. I realize this is not fair but they need a big win and I need to see it to change my way of thinking…

***

No truth to the rumor the C-Town Colts are changing the school name to “Govina”

(I guess that’s bad, well all the jokes can’t be good you have to expect that once in a while.)

Stay thirsty my friends…
