Price Should Return in Two Weeks

With a bye next week, Chase Price might not miss a game

(Pomona) – Diamond Ranch running back Chase Price, who left in the third quarter of the Rowland game with an ankle injury Saturday night, should be ready to play in two weeks according to Panther Coach Roddy Layton. He might not miss a game.

“It’s just a sprain. It’s still sore but we feel he’ll be back soon,” Layton said. “We have a bye next week so he’ll have an extra week to heal.”

Price was having a big game before he left with 113 yards rushing and a touchdown. Price, who has verbally agreed to attend San Diego State next year, has rushed for 934 yards this year and has close to 300 yards receiving. He’s also been a force on defense.

Layton isn’t too worried about Price missing even one game because he has ample replacements in Jacoby Carter and Andrew Fischer.

“We’ll take it real slow if necessary. Carter has a great average per carry and you saw what Fischer can do last night,” Layton said. “Fischer has a 4.5 GPA and he’s a top rated track star as well.”

Fischer missed the first three games of the season due to an injury but last night he scored two touchdowns, had a fumble recovery off of a strip and intercepted a pass.

“He will shine every game now that he is healthy,” Layton said.

After the bye next week the Panthers will face Los Altos on October 29. Diamond Ranch is 3-0 in Hacienda League play.
