Vikes End Streak, Defeat South

(El Monte) Jossymar Ulloa and Jose “Nacho” Zamora combined for 225-yards and 2-touchdowns in Mountain View’s historic victory over South El Monte Friday night at Vikings Stadium.

The win was View’s first in 16 tries over the Southmen

Vikings started off strong forcing a three and out, a blocked punt in the end zone was recovered by Jairo Carbajal for the first View score to make it 7-0.

A couple drives later South El Monte tied up the score with a 19-yard touchdown run by Jorge Garcia 11:50 in the second quarter. The score stood till halftime.

Mountain View came out strong stuffing any Eagles offense. Midway through the third quarter a 33-yard touchdown run by Ulloa put up the Vikings 14-7 after the extra point, the score was set up by a Jason Villagrana interception.

After another South El Monte punt, View took the ball down field to the 15-yard line and gave the ball back on a fumble. The Eagles still weren’t able to do much against the Vikings defense after another punt, Mountain View drove the ball down field and capped it off with a 1-yard touchdown run by Zamora to make it 21-7 View.

South tried for there own drive down the field but, defensive lineman Omar Rivera hit Eagles quarterback Gabriel Anaya and force a interception to fellow d-lineman Keivon Flores. Mountain View could of scored again but choose to take a knee with 58-seconds left.

Rivera and Flores each had a sack on defense. Robert Ramos and Ruben Hernandez played a tough defensive back for the Vikings. Ulloa finished with 155-yards rushing, and Zamora added 70-yards.

Jimmy Martinez, Brian Aguilar and Frankie Venagas each played a hard defense for the Eagles. Anaya led the offense playing at quarterback.

Mountain View (4-3, 1-1) stays home and tries to keep it’s playoff hopes alive against Rosemead, well South El Monte (1-6, 0-2) goes home to host El Monte.
