Good Afternoon!

I love fantasy football…

…almost as much as I hate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers…

***

San Gabriel has won three straight over Bell Gardens, and really needs a win this week. The Lancers are hard to figure…best bet is to not figure lightly against them.

If Matador HC Jude Oliva was seeking my advice, and to his credit he doesn’t very often, I would say strong doses of Arthur Brown. Both teams have proven they can score, but the best course of action would be to keep Josh Adame and friends off the field.

***

Has anyone noticed that Burroughs has run off four straight and now controls its fate in the Pacific?

***

Through recent Dos Equis commercials we’ve met “The Most Interesting Man in the World”…Now I want you to meet the most confident one…

Based on his ability to throw six touchdown passes and to keep throwing after being picked off five times…It’s Valley Christian quarterback Ryan Fronke.

Note to the Ladies: If you happen to be his girlfriend or dating him and are considering some plan to try and make him jealous…forget it. Because this guy has the ability to forget and move on.

***

Then again everything about Maranatha-Valley Christian on Friday was amazing…

***

Reports over the weekend said the Arcadia-Burbank mix —that ended with the Apaches Taylor Lagace and the Bulldogs Quortney Brazier both getting the boot—  was very intense.

***

If you saw Fred Roggin on Sunday night you know Norwalk’s Elijhaa Penny had a monster night against Glenn. Penny and monster nights seem to go hand in hand. He should have another one against Cerritos this week…

But speaking of monster games…El Monte’s Michael Jimenez finished with 346 yards and two touchdowns against Gabrielino. Currently he has 1,211 yards and 12 toucdowns (11 Rushing) in 6 games.

Since there is probably only one other person on the planet who would know more history on El Monte football than me…I’m gonna go out on the limb and say Jimenez’s 346 yards is (most likely) an all time school record.

I welcome any correction.

***

It was nice to see the real Brett Favre show up in the second half last night at Lambeau…Oh, I know, it was his receivers fault. “Brett Favre is a warrior!”

***

Last Add Jimenez: Since it seems to be every man for himself in The Mid office these days, lets remember I was the one that admonished the Lions offensive line after the Gladstone game…I was the one that said El Monte had a special back in Jimenez…

…just like I was the one who said Temple City was putting itself in a position for a playoff spot.

***

Shut up Peterson, Villathedevil, & Bad News…I don’t want to hear it.

***

Last Add Burbank: “Hopefully we can bounce back from nine dropped balls and three big turnovers,” says Bulldog HC Hector Valencia after his team’s 48-20 loss at home to Arcadia.

***

On this date in 1991 El Monte’s Frank Sepulveda picked off a Matt Koffler pass and returned it 48-yard for a touchdown in the Lions 28-27 victory over Rosemead.

***

Muir is healthy and getting on track. This week they’ll use Glendale to prep for a critical showdown with Burroughs, at home, on November 5th.

Show of hands: Who wants to play Muir in the first round of the playoffs?

Anybody?

***

Twenty-five yeas ago today Schurr’s Eric Rubalcava threw three touchdowns passes in a 48-7 win over Alhambra. Schurr improved to 7-0.

***

Note to Mike Maggiore: Pressure! Pressure! Pressure! Blitz, Bliztkrieg, Double A Gap Blitz, Safety Blitz, Zone Blitz, Get Blitzed, Ballroom Blitz, or Wolf Blitzer…just bring it to Bonita’s Garrett Pendleton…He’s healthy, got a hot hand, and ready light up every secondary he sees.

I will give my prediction for this game Saturday morning…

***

Fair enough that Azusa gets most if not all of the attention in the Montview League, but La Puente is currently 5-2 and could be 8-2 and locked into second place come CIF.

They get Sierra Vista this week, and Sierra Vista will get to deal with the Warriors Jose Perez.

***

Stay thirsty my friends…
