A Closer Look at the Pacific League

One thing is clear, the league title will go through Burbank. Many scenarios can happen with the easiest being Burroughs winning.

If that doesn’t occur, an Arcadia win get them the title.

Two other rivalry games on tap Friday night, with Muir facing Pasadena in the “Turkey Tussle” and Glendale hosting Hoover.

Arcadia (6-3, 5-1) – Apaches have eyes on the City of Burbank with that game determining where they will finish in league. A win by Burbank coupled with a win by Arcadia gets them the top spot in the Pacific. Burroughs wins and the Apaches can finish no worse than second.

Signature Wins: Burbank (Southeast) 6-2, Muir 5-4 (Southeast)

Signature Loss: None

Games Remaining:  11/12 vs. Crescenta Valley (4-5 record remaining opponents)

Burbank (7-2, 5-1) – Bulldogs have everyone healthy heading into the postseason which is the most important deal. Burbank has been waiting all season to face the Indians in another rivalry game.

Games Remaining:  11/11 vs Burroughs (5-4 record remaining opponents)

Muir (5-4, 4-2) – Mustangs begin playoffs with the “Turkey Tussle” on Friday. A loss and there is a good possibility of not making the playoffs. Muir is a team that most others don’ t want to face in the first round of the postseason.

BODY OF WORK: 41-40 overall record of opponents, 1-4 against teams with winning records.

Signature Wins: None

Signature Loss: None

Games Remaining:  11/12 vs. Pasadena (4-5 record remaining opponents)

Burroughs (5-4, 5-1) – Indians really need a win to get the top spot in the Pacific, that is understatement. The difference between playing a 12th seed compared to a eight or nine seed is like night and day.

BODY OF WORK: 38-47 overall record of opponents, 1-4 against teams with winning records.

Signature Wins: Arcadia (Southeast) 6-3

Signature Loss:

Games Remaining:  11/11 vs. Burbank (7-2 record remaining opponents)

Pasadena (4-5, 3-3) – Another season of “missed it, by that much” for a spot. Bulldogs finally start rolling near the end of the season, but how much of that has to do with its talent compared to who they have faced.

BODY OF WORK: 33-48 overall record of opponents, 0-5 against teams with winning records.

Signature Wins: None

Signature Loss: None

Games Remaining:  11/12 vs. Muir (5-4 record remaining opponents)

Crescenta Valley (4-5, 2-4) – Injuries derailed the Falcons late in the season. Now they must regroup for the 2011 season and hope the injury bug doesn’t hit them.

BODY OF WORK: 35-46 overall record of opponents, 1-4 against teams with winning records.

Signature Wins: None

Signature Loss: None

Games Remaining:  11/12 @ Arcadia (6-3 record remaining opponents)

Glendale (0-9, 0-6) – What do they need to do to beat Hoover? Don’t commit turnovers, make plays and don’t allow A.J. Pule to run around and find an open receiver. Easier said than done for the Nitros, but win against City rival would make the season a little better.

BODY OF WORK: 46-35 overall record of opponents, 0-7 against teams with winning records.

Signature Wins: None

Signature Loss: None

Games Remaining:  vs. Hoover (1-8 record remaining opponents)

Hoover (1-8, 0-6) – Season could be saved with a win against Glendale. Nothing feels better for a program then beating its rival at the end of the season.

BODY OF WORK: 47-34 overall record of opponents, 1-6 against teams with winning records.

Signature Wins: None

Signature Loss: None

Games Remaining:  11/12 vs. Glendale (0-9 record remaining opponents)
