M-Town's Ellis McCarthy
Monrovia standout Ellis McCarthy has been offered a scholarship to play football at UCLA.
McCarthy a junior trenchman for the Wildcats was personally offered by Bruin HC Rick Neuheisel.
“I wasnt expecting it,” said McCarthy. “I couldnt believe it was happening so soon.”
Playing defensive tackle McCarthy has accounted for 46 tackles and 11 sacks this season and 9 sacks in 2009.
While he has played on both sides of the line of scrimmage, including tight end, UCLA is recruiting him for the defensive line.
More Division I offers are expected in the next few weeks.
“He’s only a junior,” said Monrovia assistant Mike Minter. “Oh my!”
