(Covina) – Bishop Amat opened up an 11-point lead late in the first quarter and never looked back in defeating Northview 61-22.
Leeah Powell led the Lancers with 19 points. Powell went six of eight from the field and perfect from the charity stripe.
Powell’s ability to get second and third chances was the main reason Bishop Amat sprung to a huge lead.
Claudia Ramirez led the Vikings with eight points and her first shot made was a miracle three-pointer that beat the 30-second clock. It also was the only time Northview had a lead.
Pressure man-to-man defense and the inside dominance of the Lancers made it easy to force the Vikings into bad shot selections.
Any doubt that Bishop Amat was looking ahead to a semi-final appearance in the Covina Christmas Classic was put to rest with a 14-4 run to put the game on ice.
