High School Girls Basketball Top 25

The Lady Dons make for tough matchup every night.

The biggest question heading into the abbreviated Christmas schedule is can the Bearcats be beat? Bonita is playing some good basketball early and the Hacienda has two legitimate teams that will looking forward to beating the Bearcats.

What can be said about La Salle which continues to roll at the beginning of the season and primed for a huge year.

The Pacific League maybe the most competitive league come January with Arcadia, Burroughs, Crescenta Valley, Muir and Pasadena all having to knock heads for the league title.

1. Bonita (9-0) – Back to back Tournament championships have the Bearcats primed for tough Hacienda League.

2. Bishop Amat (9-1) – Suffocating defense was a key to winning Lady Knight’s Classic.

3. Muir (4-2) – Ayala Tournament will be big barometer to how remainder of season should play out.

4. Diamond Ranch (2-3) – Panthers will be ready come Hacienda league time.

5. La Salle (7-1) – Lancers take Poly tournament and set sights on La Canada Tournament next.

6. Poly (6-1) – Only blemish is to tough La Salle team. Favorite to run Prep League table.

7. Walnut (5-2) – Upset by St. Lucy’s but still one of three teams that could win Hacienda.

8. Crescenta Valley (5-3) – Falcons stumble in final two games of Valley Christian tournament.

9. Sierra Vista (7-2) – Estrella Rivera is as solid a player as they come in the SGV.

10. Keppel (6-1) – Ib Belou has his Aztecs rolling into the Christmas break.

11. La Mirada (6-2) – Makenna Wright is averaging 12 and 10 to lead Matadores.

12. Burroughs (5-1) – Lisha Elsenbach leads the Indians with 19 points a game.

13. St. Lucy’s (7-2) – Regents stun Walnut to jump into the top 25.

14. Baldwin Park (6-1) – Presently Braves look like the team to defeat in Valle Vista.

15. Arcadia (5-1) – Apaches are fun to watch and fear no one as evident by its solid play against Sonora.

16. Whittier Christian (6-4) – After strong start, Heralds are heading the wrong way.

17. Duarte (5-1) – Yasmin Wilson has 22 rebounds per game. Wow!

18. L.A. Baptist (6-3) – Knights might face Poly in Providence Tournament if all the pieces fall into place.

19. El Rancho (6-3) – Lady Dons will be battle tested by the time Del Rio League begins.

20. Pasadena (4-2) – Tyler Crockum doing well with 14 points per game.

21. Maranatha (5-3) – Only game this week was a loss to tough Muir team.

22. Whittier (6-4) – Cardinals in familiar territory as they enter the Top 25 again.

23. Glenn (3-2) – After slow start, Eagles are playing some good ball.

24. Valley Christian (5-4) – Upset Crescenta Valley in third place game of own tournament.

25. Workman (4-2) – Evelyn Herrera averages 24 points for the Lobos.
