Good Morning!
Facebook Quote from Monday Night: “In three years their gonna have to vacate that title anyways.” La Canada assistant Adam Monte.
So if the SEC is the greatest thing since slice bread…If nothing is better, how was it Oregon lost by only three points, after being derailed by a game tying/saving tackle and coming up dry twice in the red zone?
The Ducks lost because they had a nervous quarterback who made some early mistakes…Auburn won, absolutely…but this argument about the BCS working is fraudulent.
Other teams in this country wouldn’t have come up dry in the red zone, other teams wouldn’t have been playing with a nervous quarterback…but you know what? Those other teams will never get the chance because the championship game is set up by ballot…And that ballot will always favor the SEC as well as the larger conferences.
Everyone talks Boise State over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl as the coming out party for the non-qualifying schools…But I think the important one to look at is Utah’s blasting of Alabama two years ago in the Sugar Bowl.
Anything is possible in college football…if it is played out. Unfortunately the “possible” is very subjective and seldom played out…

Of course you’ve got people like Ted Clarke who likes the Oregon uniforms…Which were so ugly, I’m glad Auburn won…
Were those helmets snake or alligator skin?

What a great start to the off season for the Raiders. They let go of Tom Cable and then they void cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha’s contract…A contract that should never have been in the first place…It was probably a smart move to dump it…why do you need an expensive corner for a team that will go 3-13 next year?
(Mmm? Do I really need Villathedevil?)
I know there is no Santa Claus, but there has to be a ‘sanity clause’ somewhere regarding the controlling interests of Al Davis.
The NFL needs to declare the Oakland Raiders an organization in crisis and step in.

Matt Koffler Update: The Rosemead HC’s name has been mentioned in the trade talks involving the Denver Nuggets Carmelo Anthony…We’ll wait for developments.

They began the tear down at Burbank’s District Field on Monday…Burroughs and B-Bank will really be on the road all year…The Indians will continue their non-league sweep through the Foothill League in 2011.

“We have switched our game three (week 2) from Santa Fe to La Serna,” says Bonita HC Eric Podley. Expect more tweaking to the Bearcats schedule.

Muir’s Kevon Seymour, who will be a senior next September, has offers from San Jose St. and New Mexico St. and is getting a ton of other calls from other schools. It should really pick up for him this spring and summer.

Last Add Muir: Keep an eye on graduating wide receiver Karl Holmes this off season…Howard Vaughn as well…

Erick Escamilla Update: Conversations and meetings continue…

Who is going to be the starting quarterback at Cal?
“It looks like our sophomore from last year, Drew Castro (5’7″ 160),” says Condor HC Jim Arnold. “He is a good athlete who will use his legs as much as his arm to help us.”
Cal, which scored a playoff birth after starting 2010 0-6, has only one change to its schedule in 2011: Game two will be against Troy High School instead of La Mirada.

It will be interesting to see how San Dimas handles the road warrior role…
“Games are going to be all over,” says Saints HC Bill Zernickow. Coach Z. also confirmed that Shawn Kennedy will be playing football next fall.

Stay thirsty my friends…
