Mid Valley High School Girls Basketball Top 25

First week of league games are all under the belt.

Big Saturday ended being all it was “hyped” up to be with Bonita and Bishop Amat separated by two points at the end. Lancers by virtue of its win will be the new #1 team.

It doesn’t get easier for the Bearcats who will look to end Diamond Ranch’s domination in league play.

In the strange Pacific League, Muir suffered another upset over Arcadia and Burroughs is leading the way.

Poly and Keppel just keep rolling in league games.

At the bottom are those who were given consideration for the Top 25 and also “games of the week”.

1. Bishop Amat (18-3) – Two point win over Bonita and undefeated league record gets them the top spot.

2. Bonita (16-2) – Four games in six nights is tough on any team.

3. Poly (16-1) – Easily take care of Rio Hondo in match-up of undefeated league teams.

4. Keppel (17-1) – Now it’s a matter of tuning up for the playoffs.

5. Burroughs (16-4) – In zany Pacific only loss is to Muir.

6. Diamond Ranch (10-8) – Could league winning streak fall at Bonita on Monday?

7. Duarte (15-1) – Record isn’t a fluke when you have Imari Brown.

8. Whittier (16-6) – Showdown with Santa Fe goes the way of the Cardinals.

9. Wilson (14-6) – Keep winning in tough Valle Vista league.

10. Muir (12-6) – Either teams in Pacific have figured a way to beat them or they beat themselves.

11. L.A. Baptist (14-7) – Katelyn Ortiz is a good support player for Monet McNally.

12. Sierra Vista (13-3) – Have the 28th circled for rematch against Duarte.

13. Pasadena (13-7) – Tyler Crockum continues her impressive play with 15 points a game.

14. Walnut (12-6) – Can breathe for about a week before facing Bonita and Diamond Ranch.

15. Valley Christian (12-8) – Tough non-league week as they went 1-1.

16. Northview (12-8) – Claudia Ramirez leads the team with 10 points a game.

17. Mayfair (12-9) – Looking to run Suburban League table.

18. Baldwin Park (14-4) – Have dropped two of three in Valle Vista.

19. Burbank (11-8) – Dropped city rivalry game by 19.

20. Monrovia (10-6) – Joelle Tucker is taking advantage of teams keying in on Gina Henderson.

21. Arcadia (10-7) – Signature win for program against Muir.

22. South Pasadena (12-7) – Tigers comeback to earth in game against Monrovia.

23. Valley Christian (8-7) – Three-game winning streak coming at the right time.

24. Glendale (11-8) – Suffered win hangover against Burroughs and Crescenta Valley.

25. West Covina (11-8) – Couldn’t pull upset against Bonita.
